For anyone looking to reopen the old Ricochet location at 3853 Cleveland Avenue Site B, just north of Edison Mall, it is still up for lease. It is being leased by Commercial Property Specialists incorporated of Southwest Florida.

Was NOT!!! In fact, the Ricochet was a slow dancer's paradise! I was there on a Friday night once before and the place was playing slow songs, 2 at a time, every 30 minutes! And I mean, Real slow songs! 80s and 90s style! Slow songs that have similar rhythms to, for example;

Simply Red's "If you don't know me by now"

R Kelly's "Dedicated (To my favorite girl)"

Jodeci's "U&I"

Boyz II Men's "On Bended knee"

and Celine Dion's "Because you loved me".

That is the exact type of smooth jazz the Ricochet was playing, 2 songs back to back, every 30 minutes! And in fact, because of that, I was looking forward to going there again, and perhaps even having a few slow dances with some nice ladies. And not just white ladies only, but also a few African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, Mongolians, Brazillians, Cubans, Mexicans, and whatever other races/nationalities that Southwest Florida has to offer.

It is located in the K-Mart shopping plaza on Cleveland Avenue, first block north of Edison Mall.

Whoever disagrees with my above post must really hate slow dancing and must really hate seeing anyone embracing and swaying to slow music, and only likes listening to today's junk! If that is your attitude, do us a favor and go back to Chicago!

It has been nearly 3 years now since the Ricochet closed and went up for lease.

I would highly recommend calling them at the height of a workday (between, say, 11 am and 2 pm local time) and keep calling, preferrably every 30-50 minutes, until someone picks up. Normal workdays are usually Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Calling them on either Saturday or Sunday is totally not recommended at all.

Here is another great hit from the 90s that I am sure a lot of people probably miss; Silk's "Girl U For Me".

Who would want to open a business in that dumpy location? Centered right in the middle of Homelessville and Brown Town.

It's in a dingey, run-down plaza and right next to the 'blacks only' KMart. Wow! What a prime real estate spot!

No wonder it's still empty.

With some renovations it could be really good spot. The thing I would do is not have hip hop music or rap. That music inspires violence. I'm white and proud of it? What is wrong with white people nowadays playing that crap. K-Rock used to have slogan "Rap is Crap"

Just found another smooth-jazz oldie; Public Announcement's "John Doe." And I agree that rap, or really any kind of music with profanity in it, is garbage. And especially now with the Dixie Roadhouse in Cape Coral having apparently gone line dancing only all 7 days a week and all 6 hours a night (a total changeover from last year!), it isn't good to be without nightclubs that have regular social dancing. There needs to be varieties of options for people to party, which needs to include, in addition to line dancing, general club/social dancing (rock and roll, smooth jazz, slow dancing, and what not) in all cities with a significant nightlife atmosphere, such as Fort Myers.

The parcel is still vacant and up for lease as of October 2013! Also, it even seems there are a couple more parcels in the K Mart plaza that are up for lease as well.

Jenna, your post sounds heavily racist. So what if there are blacks in that area? I personally have encountered numerous black people in Fort Myers that were very nice to me, even though I am white. Heck, I even danced with a few chocolates (black people) at a rooftop bar in Downtown Fort Myers last month when I was there!

And as said before, the Dixie Roadhouse in Cape Coral, having last year been nightclub music with even quite a few slow songs, has abandoned that format and has gone line dancing only, all 7 days a week, all 6 hours a night. I mean, come on! There has got to be at least one social dancing/smooth jazz nightclub in any metro area including Fort Myers/Cape Coral. And the Ricochet was exactly that on the Friday night I was there, and most likely on all Friday nights.

One thing I absolutely hate and can not stand is racism!

I am a white/Caucasian man and have had a lot of great experiences with people of African descent. I had respite workers who were African American; in fact, I even had lap dances at strip clubs with strippers who were African American! Same thing with people of Hispanic, Mexican, Asian, and other descents; in fact, I even until recently had neighbors who are from Mexico! And guess what? I always had tons of fun with them! I attended their birthday parties, holiday parties, they came over to my house for Christmas, they were totally fun people, and they still are! And that entire family, not only are all 6 of them Mexican; both parents are from Mexico! And they are awesome people!

Are you completely out of your mind or something!? Tourists likely came to Southwest Florida from as far away as China just so they could get slow dances at the famous Ricochet! And in fact I would not even be surprised if people even came to Southwest Florida for some slow dancing at the Ricochet even from places such as Japan, Siberia, India, Malaysia, Australia, Fiji, Tahiti, New Guinea, the Phillippines, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, South Africa, Isreal, and not to mention of course Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Canada, Costa Rica, and such.
