Gardening: There's no harm in removing boots
Q: A tree service informed a client that trimming boots is not a good idea as it promotes disease in palms.

No harm in leaving the boots on, either. In fact, Cabbage palms look just as nice with the boots as without them. Plus, the boots make it all the more fun, as oftentimes they are very sturdy and even capable of supporting the weight of an adult person, thus making it very easy for youngsters to climb the palm trees, sit in the fronds, and have fun just like in any other ordinary tree. Even I, myself, have climbed a few Cabbage palms before, and even I, myself, have sat down in the fronds of Cabbage palms, and I weigh almost 260 pounds. I even have a video on Youtube of me sitting in a Cabbage palm in Crystal River.
