Does the NCAAP not have something better to do? Jobs, equality, education are things that they should be trying to improve, not protesting a picture of Robert E Lee. It seems as if the local NCAAP president is just looking for issues with the Sheriff's office. Hey Prez stop trying to flex your muscles so much, just acting like a child who can not get their way. Life must really be good here for blacks if this is the hot item worth staging a protest over!
Instead of hiding or removing history why don't you ask for more history to be displayed. Education is the key to everyone's success. The Civil War is history and everyone should know who fought on both sides. So instead of removing a great general's picture why don't you protest to add his counter part, General U.S. Grant. Between the two pictures display the wars each fought both before and during the civil war.
General E. Lee attended West Point and graduated at the top of his class. He did not come from a rich / elite family as most generals did. There, he quickly rose in the ranks and graduated second in the class of 1829.
Although he felt slavery was a bad thing, he blamed the national conflict on abolitionists. He chose to fight to defend his homeland. He resigned from the army he had served for 36 years, and accepted the command of Virginia's forces when Virginia succeeded from the Union.
After the war, Lee accepted the presidency of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia, where he died on October 12, 1870.
