Mr. Rainey has been arrested 6 times in Lee and Flagler County on drug possession, drug parafenalia, prescription fraud and using fraudulent checks. I'm not saying her deserved it, but just because he said "God Bless You" to one family, doesn't mean he wasn't aggressive with another. Door-to-door sales are an excellent way for drug addicts and cons to scope out nice neighborhoods looking for their next target. Wake up, People.

And the wacko that shot him was arrested for pulling a gun out on a woman that worked for the electric company checking the meters....Nick didn't kill anyone, Mr Wacko did and was known for his odd and crazy behavior. People feared him. He deserves to rot in jail.

My husband does the door to door sales in Tennessee(owns own company) and he is not on drugs and is not "scoping" out a neighborhood. He is an honest salesman and this living he makes feeds his family and he is able to work his own hours. You can't lump all people together when you say "door to door sales" are doing nothing but looking for a target.

If I were going to lump people together, I would lump you with the undereducated for not spelling paraphernalia correctly.

What we have with this story, is a bully with a gun, that has been itching to kill someone, and he just took advantage of it.

I apologize for not being a pro at spelling out terms related to drug use. That's out of my area.
Speaking of undereducated, how many college graduates apply for jobs with your husbands company? How about those with a high school diploma?
I agree that the man who did the shooting must have been paranoid and unstable, but right after the Colorado attack and all of the home invasions going on locally, I wouldn't want someone coming into my yard or to my door either.
It's only a matter of time before door-to-door sales are banned.
This isn't 1950 anymore.

You can google thousands of articles that have to do with door-to-door salesmen and robberies. I can see your point in defending your husbands line of work, but you both have to realize what a dangerous business it is. Whether it be for the homeowner or the salesman. We don't live in a society where this type of work can go on
----------
BOONE, N.C.-
Police arrested a door-to-door magazine salesman who they said refused to leave a home unless the resident bought a subscription.
Boone police said they received a call from a female resident Wednesday that a salesman pressured his way into her home, and then refused to leave when asked.
Investigators said the man refused to leave unless the woman either submitted to drug use and sexual activity or bought a magazine subscription from him. The woman told police she bought a subscription and then called police.
Police said they have received prior reports from residents that a group of door-to-door magazine salespeople were refusing to leave residences when asked and using high-pressure sales tactics.
----------
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh police arrested three men in connection to a door-to-door salesman scheme.
Police said the three men were going door-to-door in the Hill District, claiming to be selling discount energy plans.
Channel 11 News spoke to one victim, a 76-year-old man, who said two of the suspects distracted him while the third man robbed him.
----------
Recent increase in burglaries in West Hills and south of Ventura Boulevard may be related to door to door salesmen.
LAPD Topanga Area has recently seen an increase in residential burglaries south of Ventura Blvd. At the same time, we have had numerous community complaints of aggressive door-to-door salespeople.
----------
If you buy a magazine subscription from a traveling sales crew, even in the rare case that you actually receive your magazines, you'll still have overpaid for the subscription. In addition to the already inflated price, they add on a "service charge." If you're really interested in a magazine, order your subscription from a legitimate company.
Loss of money is not the only risk you could face from traveling magazine sales crews. There have been instances of rape, robbery, assault and even murder. Use the same caution with these salespeople as you would with any other stranger at your door. Don't be caught off guard because of their claims to be neighbors or local students.
----------
Many times burglars will conduct surveillance. They will try to establish patterns of when a home's occupants are out. People should also be mindful of door-to-door sales people. They may not be sales people, but burglars knocking on a door to determine if anyone is home.
