What a strange explanation -- wanting to "streamline" the cap and gown appearance of all the students. Is not ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENT a goal in our schools --- to be rewarded?(I note that there is no problem recognizing our outstanding athletes all year long). As for the cost, we (1959 class) had to pay for our tassels, sashes, etc. It's all about what we value.

As the parent of a senior graduating with honours, I'll gladly pay for the extra sash. The district doesn't pay. Parents do. These children should be recognized for their hard work, academic, athletic...all of it.
