This is so unfortunate! As a northerner these are just the things that I worry about going to the south to vacation! I haver been to the South 2 time and Scared both times! I read about many corrupt Officials in the South! Not that we don't have them in the North but Corrupt politicains and Corrupt Law enforcment here don't get to far! I really wonder what the difference is between the North and South are! Are We more proactive? Are we less predjice? We are not in the bible belt, so I don't think Religion has anything to do with it? I am so sorry for this Young man life being either taken by him... Or by some official who will not be caught! By the circumstances I would be inclined to think that he was murdered to save face! And to the person who knew him..... did you do anything to help him while he was in Jail? Did you visit him? You might have been his one ray of hope!
Oh shit, get off it and come on down! Everywhere has problems. There's nothing to be SCARED of!

As a southerner, I agree. If your view of the South is so crippled, so stereotyped and so nil, then you really have no place here. Besides, the gators have a hard time chewing up old yankees. It gives them severe indigestion.

Thanks but no thanks? Good. We won't be seeing you anytime soon.

politics in phenix city haven't changed in the last 60yrs. it's the same as before the "revitalization/clean-up " only thing that has changed is the names, due to marriages of the families who still run the same corruption as they did in the days of prostitution, and gambling. now, they just do it in the courts, and police divisions. take your new mayor, coulter... think about the name, who is he related to? what about his background. people worry about the president's personal life. why not check on things a little closer to home?

Where is the problem? They should find two or three hundred more of them thugs dead. They are a menace to society. What a wonderful world we could have without them.

I was locked up for a while in Russell County but agreed to inform on some drug dealers to get a lighter sentence. They really put the pressure on us white Hos to do that or I would have refused.

i have been ingoring this for a long time only because i was on the jury that did his trial before he died. i was upset about doing it and we came to a conclusion that i can say said he didnt have enough agasint him to charge. i wish he wouldnt have taken his life cause i blieve he would have gotten not guilty but we had to stop that cause of him passing. he was beat and i know this from tlaking with him on jail visits. i loved my cous so mucha dn i ahted that he went downt his road but he was innocent. the man who did that and is still at large was a bully and got Johnny in trouble. he has always been a quite boy and kept to himself so when he told me he didnt do it but couldnt say who i believed he was truly scared of the guy and i also believe that he was beatneed cause the Russell County people didnt have enough evidence to convict him and couldnt find the real guy wihtout him telling. if they would have treated him right nad been nice i bet he would have finally told. all he wanted was a garentuee he would be safe and that he would not be put in th esame jail or prison as the real murder. i wish now that he would have told me but he kept quite as a mouse from fear and that fear is what drove him to death. that and the fact that Russell County Jail didnt care to treat him right.
