I just moved to Fort Mill and was doing very well ....UNTIL..I visited the "Infamous Fort MIll Post Office" It seems that there is an on going lack of intelligence within it's walls that is specifically targeted to the consumer..In the past week, I find myself dealing with individuals whose ability to preform in the capacity for which they were hired "NULL & VOID" This would also include a woman who I was told was the "Post Master" I have also taken the time to spend the week canvassing the community on this particular PO and the results are in! Not one of the dozens of consumers I spoke with had a single good...or positive thing to say about the staff in this post office..I, sadly enough had to agree..I spoke with one woman who said " The only way things may change in that PO is if the Post Master himself passes away" WOW! That's quite a review I must say...No stars here for Ft Mill PO..I may even have to write a post in the local paper..It's quite criminal what goes on there!!!
After having three dialogs with three different staff members..providing numerous documents to that same staff that substantiated my grievance, I was continually sent on a verbal goose chase via a double talking and misinformation. It was even eluded to me by the "Post Master" on duty that is was somehow my fault that my package was missing! Her next remedy for the problem was to " Contact my insurance company and file a claim for my lost package"
She was arrogant with a flair!(she was all smiles) She was also very misguided into thinking that I was a moron, another thing I find VERY distasteful..I purchased merchandise on 08/11/09, paid extra to have shipped priority mail ( 2-3 day delivery), and it is now the 08/17/09 and still NO ONE KNOWS where my package is!
I printed out all the tracking of my package from my computer and it clearly showed that is was mishandled and scanned improperly, and when I continually asked where my package was the first response was "DUHHHH" followed up with a list of assorted other locations it MIGHT BE IN other than the one it SHOULD BE IN..FORT MILL PO...
Now don't get me wrong. I know that nothing, and no one can be one hundred percent 100 % of the time, and that things do happen, but I must confess that my experience at this post office, and other consumer experiences should lend to a full investigation as to how the US mail is handled at Fort Mill Post Office.
Well the company I purchased my merchandise with is doing just that, and I will do some of my own..I have read some of the online reviews, though few, from those that did take the time to post and those few were more than deplorable.
I would ask that anyone who feels, or has experienced less than adequate service to contact me at [email protected].I feel so strongly about this matter that I will take the time to do something about it..at least I will try..I would appreciate any Fort Mill consumer that is willing to write to me regarding your experiences, maybe together we can get a better class of service..not to mention that it might help the staff that does it's job at Fort mill PO to be rid of the "DEAD WEIGHT"
Heck, I do believe that my package would have been better served if it were driven by Pony Express...and I am sure that the driver of the coach would have given his life to protect it! lol...
After all..it's a crime to mishandle US mail..that should include PO staff as well!!!!!

It's the post office mentality. They are actually trained in how NOT to accept responsibility or make any promises.

Debbie,

I feel compelled to reply to this story. I myself have lived in Ft Mill since 11/06 and receive 2-3 packages a month from the Ft Mill PO., mostly priority mail. At no time have I had any issues on even one delivery. 100% great service from my carrier as well as the front clerks. So perhaps the law of averages merely struck you and your shippment. I hope by writing that and venting with it helped you feel better and since then you have been able to aquier some tention relief at home. If not, consider returning to the Northeast or wherever you came from. I'm sure no humans will make any mistakes at any time there for you.

Debbie, when I moved to Indian Land ,SC in June 2004,I also have had bad expieriences with the fort mill PO. One that comes to mind is the time I waited 30 mins. to mail a package. A line of people out the door,4 PO personnel behind the counter and 1 window open. Have no idea what the 3 other personnel were doing, but it did not like that important. One of the lazing workers eventually came over to releive the one that was working for break. Have a couple of horror stories about this place. And I did move here from up north. All the way from Charlotte,NC!! I do beleive the Fort Mill PO has gotten a lot better than it used to be,judging from the last few times I was there. I think all the complaints to the Post Master finally paid off.Really makes no difference to me now,as we are in Lancaster,SC and the staff at this PO does an excellent job.

They are horrible. I have received 3 packages this past week with Do Not Bend clearly written on them. And of coarse I found all 3 bent all up smashed into my mail box

Keep in mind the US Postal Office is staffed by Union workers. They can't be fired so why should they care about the service. Try the Postal Route on the corner of Hwy 160 and Gold Hill. They are open 8 - 8 Monday through Friday and 8-3 on Sat. The Customer service is outstanding. This is an contract post office so they charge the same rates as a government post office. They also offer other services like UPS and Fedex - One stop shopping.

First of all the idea that just because were unionized does not mean we lack the capacity to take care of our customers. The fact you say we cant be fired is completley untrue. Therein is the problem with the general public that does not understand the inner workings of how things are. So you assume that by what you hear from others, or the media that this is true. Hence we do/ I do care about customer service. Every day I face the public and listen to my customers. We no longer have Debbie Wasylink former Post Master. We have a new Post Master and she is a lot better than the recent one. What I, and everyone else at Fort Mill hope to impress upon you is that we do care about what our customers think. If there is any problem with customer service please go to www.usps.com or 1-800-askusps and file a complaint. When you go to usps.com website click customer service, in the top left corner, under the get answers tab, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click send us an email. This is the best way to get resolutions. All issues are taken into consideration and they do fix problems when there is a legitimate complaint.

Public Service Unions should be outlawed! The Post office workers union is one of the main reasons the US Postal Service is broke.

The union workers are so sorry and make so much money that the cost of mailing a letter has gone up, up up and is still going up! Mailing a package by USPS has become so expensive that it's much cheaper to mail by UPS, FEDEX or one of the other commercial carriers.

Unions exist to collectively bargain in industry and business. Who does a public service union bargain with? The US government, congress---and we all know what a pile of horse manure that is!!!! Congress just routinely does what the postal union asks. Raise postage--yeah sure, raise wages---sure enough, oops, if we raise wages we have to raise postage rates again--ok done!

Who is getting screwed? The taxpayers---you and me!

The worst post office location ever! I live in a fort mill subdivision that regularly does not get mail or it is delivered late in the evening! Mail has been lost, never delivered or not even picked up! I have filed several complaints that never seem to be responded to. I have been told we don't have a regular driver! Local customer service is a joke. Please don't expect much from USPS when you move to fort mill!

Let me guess...You are one of the clerks providing such horrific service! Having lived in the Carolinas for all of my life, it is discouraging that you feel that only people from "up north" have high expectations or at least enough knowledge to know how professionalism should be exhibited! I can't say that you should "go
back" to school, because your repetitive entries on this forum indicate that you haven't received any higher education...

Actually Stric9 I have lived in the South all my life. Your assumption is incorrect. This was the 1st complaint I have ever filed about any organization. I however re state my opinion the nightmare on elm street is the worst post office I have ever felt with. You are likely and employee who defends poor customer service!

Wont really matter soon, they are broke and will soon be a chapter in the history books. As a 25 year resident of FM and lifelong Southener, this particular PO does stand out as one of the slackest I have ever had to deal with. We drive out to Tega Cay's PO outlet, nicer and waaaaay more competent people.
