Went in to have a repair done on my emergency brake. The Firestone mechanics came to me with a list of "recommended" services that amounted to $5,478.00. I told them " &%#@ no", and asked how much it would cost me to have JUST the emergency brake fixed. That amount was over $500. I told them to put it all back together, and I then took the vehicle to Bruce Titus Chevrolet in Tacoma. They found and retrieved the part, and installed it in an afternoon ... for $320.00. I would NOT recommend the Firestone Auto Center on Fort Lewis. While I was there, not ONE person came in that didn't need a "recommended" amount of work done that was less than $500. Even people that were just getting an oil change all of a sudden needed radiator flushes, brake pads replaced, etc., etc. Buyers beware at Firestone on Ft. Lewis, they will scam you for everything they can get you for.

The exact same thing happened to us just last week. We took our auto in to just find out how much a water pump would be and the price was more than triple buying it and installing it ourselves. They also gave us recommendations that totaled over $3200.00. We were then told that they could not repair the one thing that was leaking and we would have to get all of the repairs done since we are on post. I have never heard of anything like this in my life!!! Then they changed the oil with a wopping bill of almost $70.00 for a small old car. How crazy!!!!

Same thing happen to me. My pulley assembly broke and I took it to Firestone on Fort Lewis. They quoted me approximately $870.00 for generic parts and labor. I took my SUV/Mitsubishi to Bruce Titus in Olympia; labor and genuine Mitsubishi parts totaled $350.00. I filed a complaint with Firestone Consumer Relations and also AAFES who they are contracted through, which probably went into file 13. They are the biggest rip-offs in town and to think they are allow to service our Soldiers, their families while they are deployed and our Veterans. What a shame.

A friend called me one day after getting quoted a bill of $1800.00 to replace all four calipers and rotors. I told him to get the hell out of there and that I'd fix his car. the problem was his master cylinder, NOT the CALIPERS, or the ROTORS. He bought the part for $120.00 and I spent 30min on installation and bleeding. He gave me fifty dollars for my time. I felt that wasn't bad for half an hour, plus I saved my friend $1,630.00 I wish I could just put a sign up with my phone number maybe I will. THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS SHIT EVERYDAY!!!

A soldier in my unit had to replace his brake pads. He went there and was told that the calipers needed replaced along with tires. I told him to take it elsewhere but he had already authorized the work. Cost him over 2,000 when all said and done. I could change pads for less than 100. I won't send any soldier there if I can help it.

I just a little different situation with fort lewis firestone. I took my car in because of a leaky tire, turns out it was a nail in my tire, so the patched it. 2 days later the same tire was still leaking, so I brought it back in. They told me that in the 2 and a half miles I had driven it, that I had somehow ran over another nail in the exact same spot on my tire, so the tire couldn't be replaced, and I had to buy a brand new tire. Seems to me it would be way more likely that they did a crappy patch job, and that why the tire was leaking! Oh and just like everyone else they came out with recommendations for about $2,000,and they were all things I had just had done on my car a month before(rotation of tires and full engine service). This place is a rip off!!!!!!!!
