He'll go free, write a book and tour the country as a "hero" and a person of "courage". He'll marry, have some children and live to a ripe old age.

If he's got any intelligence and decency, he'll ask himself each day in which cemetery on which tombstone is the name of the soldier who took a bullet in his place. Or in which VA Hospital in which rehab room is the guy who took his place trying to learn to walk again.

Watada, watch the Indy 500 on Memorial Day, go to the beach on Veterans Day, just don't think about the guys who served and sacrificed. Enjoy your wonderful life and the freedoms others have won for you.

It saddens me greatly when people who should be punished by law get off on a technicality because someone screwed up. The Army should have known better.
You don't sign up for military service during a war then choose not to deploy.

Sad, really sad, but it looks like the weasel is going to get away with it. I wonder if some of the old 442 boys who watched many of their comrades die for their country have some thoughts about him. I'll bet they are not very pleasant thoughts. He has no shame.

Sorry ass coward. Yes just look in the mirror coward and see all the bravest men & women that got wounded or killed for your sorryass. And yes each one of them brave troopers took the same oath as you when they enlisted in the service. Hope you enjoy the rest of your sorry life here on. And yes I was in the service and defended my country when we were called upon to do so by our Commander In Chief. This is sad day for all service personnel.

However this sorry affair ends I pray that watada elects to remain on the mainland, never to pollute the islands with his shame and punk action.

Sorry to say but like john Kerry and Al Gore Watada will be elected to the Hawaiian Senate seat and live out the remainder of his worthless life as a political leader of this country.

The liberals love a traitor and if one takes a good long look at the Hawaiian Legislature all but 3 are liberals.
