Sibley's BBQ in Chester pays immigrants more than their US citizen employees!

I am a recently let-go employee from Sibley's BBQ in chester, Virginia, a place alot of us know, and love to eat BBQ at. Recently, Charlie Sibley has hired more than one immigrant (not US citizens) for cooking, dishwashing, and other tasks around the Chester bbQ joint.
The sad fact is, for some reason, Mr. Sibley has hired these immigrants which he pays more per hour, and assigns many more hours per week than us legal US citizens, and it is a sad truth indeed. The worse part of this sad fact is, is that the US citizens working there (or used to work there in my case), are getting less per hour, and less hours per week which means that they are having a hard time even feeding themselves -- besides paying for things like rent, children, vehical insurance and payments.
One immigrant there gets 650 per week,(he told me himself and Charlie has agreed to this fact), and has a brand new very expensive truck he parks around our less-than-top of the line vehicals. One US citizen cook there who is having a hard time paying for his children as well as his own needs, got a $40 dollar check this week. FORTY DOLLARS! How do you live off of something like that?
Another US citizen who dishwashes in the back and is trying to save enough money to get back into college as well as life's other necessities, is only allowed 4 hours per day from Charlie Sibley, whilst the new immigrant gets the rest of the cooking and dishwashing hours during the week.
I am glad to not work for this company anymore, as it is fast going downhill. Now keep in mind that I am not against any race or any person from any ethnic origin, however it makes me see red to know that this long-time Chester citizen is paying these immigrants way much more than he pays his US citizens, and gives them way more hours. To me, this is disgusting.

Mr. or Mrs. let go employee, if you were so unhappy with the situations at your former place of employment, pleae answer one question. Why would such an unhappy employee stay at a place long enough to be "Let Go",rather than leave on their own and seek better employment? I find it hard to assign much value to the words and gripes of a "Fired" angry exworker of any business that vents in a public forum AFTER being fired.

Actually, it was a blatent combination, more weighted on my quitting than them letting me go. And yes, I had planned for weeks on leaving this place and going elsewhere which is why I quit in the end.

Former, not only do you whine about your pay, now you can not tell the same story twice without changing it, one or the other has to be a lie. I quote your original post, "I am a receintly let go employee from Sibley's BBQ in Chester Va". Now four days later you state, "and yes, I had planned for weeks on leaving this place and going elsewhere which is why I quit in the end". Which is it, did they let you go or did you quit, I guess it depends on the day of the week that you are asked.

I think the point of the story is that illegal aliens are having an impact of American wages. I certainly wouldn't want to lose my job, or be paid less than a person who is here illegally.

I think the POINT is that this person does not seem to be on a first name basis with the truth. POINT is, that if you make statements, be willing to provide facts to prove said statements. One true statement of fact is that let go disgruntled employees often time feel some power by making unproven statements about a place of employment that for some reason did not meet their expectations as a place of work. Cheap shots on an internet board are true indicators of the person, world you hire somebody like this?

I find these statements from "former employee" to be from an angry former employee that was let go because of his actions. He was also given a chance by Mr.Sibley to improve himself.If you had an issue with this and thought you were being discriminated against, why didn't you confront Mr.Sibley with it?
I have alway been paid on the basis of what my skills are.Perhaps "former employee" was not as helpful or not as skilled as the other employees.
I know Mr.Sibley and have worked for him, he has always been very fair and nice.Anyone that knows Mr.Sibley, knows he has the biggest heart in the world and would do anything for anybody.

This restaurant is a JOKE!! The ceiling is nasty and I felt as if a tile was going to fall down at any second. The table I sat at had a lean and everything on the table wanted to fall to one side. The service was good, but the food came out cold and dry. I was very dissapointed in the BBQ that was suppose to be the best. Please someone tell Mr. Sibley to do a little renovation. Bring the store up to 2008. Get new furniture, new ceiling tiles, and for goodness sake real plates. There are some good things about Sibleys. The sauce is good, and the ribs and chicken are excellent. Just please do something about the horrible condition the store is in.

If what "employee" writes is true about that place than that sibley guy and others like him are part of the problem in America. I'm refering to illegals. Why do you hire people that are not here legally. That just sends a message that he does not care about anything but the dollar in his pocket and that is also proven by "angry". Angry, you are so very typical of the problems in this country, you went to resturant and saw problems bad enough to go to a topix board and whine, however, you did not have the guts to make a complaint while at the resturant. "Please, SOMEONE" tell Mr. Sibley to do a little renovation"? I must once again ask, why did you not have the courage to say these things in person?

Another IF and What IF person, a let go employee makes blanket statements without providing one bit of fact and you go off on a tangent about not wanting to go there. Do you live in that area, have you ever been by that business, do you from an opinion based not on personal knowledge, but, just rely on an unknown, unseen voice of a fired employee. I think I will start going to this resturant just to judge for myself. Interesting concept, prehaps the rest of you should try this concept.

first of all tell Mr.Sibley's landlord to renovate he has put in more than his share,second of all he does not own the building and can't change anything till his piece of crap landlord does something. I'm sorry about the table leaning ,but as far as the BBQ is concerned it is the BEST. And for the plate business, would you like to wash dishes for a place that is so hopping and you can sometimes keep up?We would love to have you stop by and give us some tips on how to renovate a place without having to put more money into a bottomless pit. We love where we work and the Sibleys. so for goodness sake give us a break!!!!!!

Today I went to Sibley's BBQ for the first time to see what the conditions at the resturant and the quality of the food was all about. I ordered the BBQ and fries because they are the signature foods at all BBQ resturants, I can say without fear of contridiction that Sibley's BBQ has as good of BBQ as can be found in the area. The service was fast and friendly and where except at a smaller resturant could you meet the owner as he went from table to table to make sure people were happy with their service and food. I will say for the building that yes it is not the newest building, however, I found it to be clean and run very vell. Mr. Sibley and his BBQ has made me a believer and next time I go I will carry my bride of 36 years. To all of the people who would make judgement without visiting the resturant I would say, stop by there and give the place a chance, I think you will be suprised in a positive way. If you are not happy with the experience Mr. Charlie Sibley will listen to your complaints.

I have had the pleasure of eating at Sibley's on several occasions and I must say that the service was "TOP SHELF" and the food was very good. The BBQ was as good as any in the area. As far as the building.... I could care less. It is clean and comfortable, thats all that matters.
