A fine example of why Pelham and KLB should not represent the citizens of Hopewell. I don't understand how they think that keeping an aging, ugly and useless building downtown will help that area in any way. We have all ventured to downtown areas and the number one complaint is always the lack of parking. I applaud the other five council members for actually doing something good for the downtown area and thinking about the future. Saving a historic building is one thing, saving a crappy supermarket/junky library/dirty public health building is another.

Having one less building(even an empty one) will effect C.L-B's pet project, the Main Street Program. She doesn't want to lose anymore power.

Use the building to for the new safety/funhouse. The City owns it, it is structurally sound and it can support a second story. NO, lets spend 7.7 million and build a brand new building and tear this building down. I bet Enochs get the bid for the new "funhouse". Talk about corruption.

Solid plan Mansion Hiller. Lets invest a ton of money to add a second story to that old leaky building. That will last all of ten years before it has to be torn down and rebuilt anyway. Why not rebuild now when the interest rates are low and save the tax payers some money? No. You're right. We should keep shelling out money to train police and firemen, then tell them they get to work out of an old decrepit library so they can leave and get a better job with another locality. How many mansions are in mansion hills...?

You must be one of the idiot Councilors who voted for this or apparently you are JUST an idiot. 7.7 million could probably rebuild the entire City of Hopewell in the condition it is in now. The building is structurally sound. Oh, those poor poor police officers. What do most of them do? And Mansion Hills is beginning to look like the rest of the City-like crap!!

Enlighten all of us idiots. What should the city be spending its money on? What's important to the high society members of mansion hills?

Probably spending money on education because it appears that you are probably a product of the Hopewell school system. And please, who is high society in Mansion Hills? Those days are long gone!!!

Education gets more then enough money now. The problem is the parents(most don't give a ratsazz about the kids), IF there are both parents. Next problem is if the little angels get out of hand, it's someone else's fault, and no one punishes little Johnny. In other words, no discipline, no parents, no good kids. We can thank all you PC liberals for the problems in the schools.

It's a shame you can't debate a topic without someone resorting to childish name calling. I would expect more from a lady your age. A $25 million renovation was just completed at the high school and you think we should pump $7 million more into schools rather than public safety? The logic you demonstrate is bewildering.

The funny thing is, Hopewell schools have improved a lot in the past years. It is a shame the news never mentions it. The problem still rests with the parents (if any are around) that don't give a shihit about their kids.

No, I do not want to see any more money going to the school system. Apparently you do not understand SARCASM. The majority of students I see in Hopewell cant form a proper sentence. I do stand my my earlier statement that until the police force does their job in the City, why spend 7.7 million on a "new playhouse".
