Thanks Mr. Newman. Only 1 year for this. Hell why don't we all go out and shoot at someone.

This really doesn't surprise me at all. I know people who smoke pot who have gotten more time than this! Another job well done, Newman.(please sense my sarcasm in that) Good to know you can go out and get hammered, shoot someone and only get a slap on the wrist.

Did you actually READ the full article? They had a very hard case to work due to many circumstances. It was better to plead it out than risk it in open court.

He has to fulfill all the requirements of the suspended sentence in order to NOT serve his full sentence.

SO it would have been better to take it to trial with a good chance the guy will walk then for him to serve a year in jail. They were patrons of Jolly Rogers im sure its safe to say they aren't productive members of or society

Just Newman being afraid to try a case and pleading it down to avoid a trial. Wonder how many other cases he does this with that go unnoticed?

What a bigoted statement to make. What makes you think the shooter would have walked. Pretty plain and simple unless you are stating that the Hopewell PD didn't do their job-which is understandable with the law enforcement Hopewell has.

For real!!!! Is this the only one they have explained? Why are there people who do the same damn crimes over and over and over and over???? If you break in my house it is NOT just trespassing! Even if the "prosecutor" says so.

I see no one from Newman's camp, including Waymack (under any of the 10 names he uses on here, has addressed this example of their infamous pleas to let violent criminals escape justice. We need someone who will take these criminals to trial and get good sentences to protect our city!

This looks like Rick Newman's normal practice of cutting deals with criminals. My vote is for Clininger bc I know he will prosecute crime not make deals with robbers, rapists, and violent criminals.

Rick Newman is a sheep led by Joey Waymack. Heck, Waymack may have agreed to the plea deal. Everyone says he makes deals as a non-lawyer.

They hope this issue disappears further down the board. I say we hold their feet to the fire and demand a response.

Pretty pathetic. They wont address real issues that effect the citizens of Hopewells safety but will stoop to the low levels that they did in the last Attack Mailer. Vote Cloninger for a real change, vote for a man with real morals. Hopewell needs Newman AND Waymack GONE!!

Amen! We don't need a politician in office, we need a commonwealth attorney. a man of principle, not a man of lies and manipulation. A man of integrity, not a man led by Joey Waymack to make a deal with violent criminals.
