The fact that Ms Wests husband is a paid media consultant for the Republican party should be grounds for firing her. Orlando does not need a mini Fox station.

Congratulations Barbara West.
You are an excellent news anchor and reporter and many of us here in Central Florida admire you. We respect you.
Continue being the excellent reporter you are and continue
what you have been doing honestly.

with respect,

She should have recused herself from the interview given her husband is a consultant for the media wing of the GOP. It was painfully obvious he or his ilk handed her those questions as they were straight out of the GOP talking points for the day.

Loaded language is an understatement! Barbara West is an embarrasment to Orlando and her dumb questions makes her look ridiculous as a "reporter". You should go hang out with Elizabeth Hasselbeck and the 2 of you can start a neo-con show over on FOX.(blech!)

P.S.- I mean that as an insult.

I think Barbara West is on the right track.

It is unbelievable that tough guy Biden cannot handle questions from a local market tv newswoman. Instead he tries to talk her down, and all these pwned Democrat mouthpieces like Adrianne Marsh.

"Asked her political affiliation, West said, "I don't think I should say." Voting registration records show she is a Republican" So what? Doesn't it matter that she wants the truth. Maybe if more of the so-called journalist would ask questions like this we would have a better selection to choice from either demo or republicans. I am not a real fan of channel 9 but I am glad she had to guts to step forward with some real questions instead of caned pre-determined questions. GOOD JOB LADY

It's so funny. You know when you are guilty of something, what you tend to do? Over react. If this wasn't socialism they would brush it off.And shut up about it..Who cares.Obama speaks of running with socialist in his books. Why would this question be out of line?

It's pretty well known in Orlando that Barbara West's husband is a political consultant for the Republican Party. The questions were a shameful local attempt at Fox News type journalism. Maybe she was putting together a resume piece for a Fox job interview. It's a real shame Barbara lost her opportunity to ask Joe Biden some real questions because of her own political bias.

No Democrat ought to ever complain about unfair press questions. I used to be a Democrat until it got too sickeningly dishonest and snobbish, just like this joker who wants her to be fired.

How about some compassion? How about some free speech?

Hey, genius... the last time I looked, Charley Gibson asked Sarah Palin the same question, three times in a row. Was that because Charley couldn't hear or because he was playing partisan politics? Get over it! Because one single reporter decided to ask some difficult questions you want her fired? What kind of America do you want to live in? The kind that suits your perverted desires? I am proud that Ms. West asked some difficult questions. Better than the alternative; asking the same milktoast.

She's such a puppet for her gold 'ol boy Republican husband, the only thing missing was the strings. And now she's being feted by Fox news. No surprise there either.
West could certainly show that same toughness with McCain and Palin, if Wade will allow it. Doubt it.
I didn't see her as unprofessional, just a good little Hannity clone. Enjoy your fifteen minutes of fame on Fix news Barbara then go back to dolling out that health news dreck. I'm sure Marla is out there somewhere giving you the proper conservative applause.

If you take the time to read the questions that she asked McCain, you'd see that they were just as tough.

I'm surprised the Slantinel is running this article. Why didn't they question her partisanship after the McCain interview?

Yes, that's the "right" thing to do. Just fire anyone who dares to ask questions many Americans are wondering about. I'm an independent voter and I want to know what "spreading the wealth" means. And "spreading the wealth" is something Karl Marx wanted to do. SO, ask the question again and again until we get a reasonable answer. Does this mean, if Obama and Biden get in, that any reporter asking a question they don't like will be "fired." YUK!

Oh, good one, Rob from Georgia. Embarrassment for Orlando all the way from the hills of Georgia.

How about your Jimmy Carter? There is an embarrassment for the entire country, excluding his mom. I voted twice for him. What a mistake.

Finally somebody asks a real question of Obama or Biden and the dems go beserk.

I agree with you. I am a republican and a McCain supporter but I feel she stepped way out of line. I live in Orlando and don't want my local news station to show support for one or the other. I wouldn't appreciate it if she was attacking McCain with silly questions. West is using our local news stations to basically show her support for McCain. I welcome McCain support but I'm fair, it's just not right. Yes, she crossed the line. Fire her.

That was painful to watch.
The questions were poorly worded, designed to be confrontational and sensational and showed a shocking lack of good judgment.
It was all designed, I think, to draw attention to the station to pump up ratings so that the station can charge more for advertising. And sadly, it'll probably work. How long before that pathetic tirade is made into an in-house promo?

Yeah, as if other journalists do not have political agendas or affiliations. If a left-leaning interviewer were to ask the same question of a conservative candidate with couched phrases to Fascism or Nazism, you wouldn't hear a peep from the mainstream media.
