HYDE: These Brits are passionate Dolfans

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

I don't want to sound egotistical, but my recent column criticizing the Dolphins' upcoming game in London was an international hit.

You're an idiot Hyde.
The first article was bad enough but considering yourself a hit because people called you on your BS is even more pathetic.

The movie is called "Diner". Not "THE Diner".
I know that sounds picky, but you wouldn't call the movie "Star Wars" "THE Star Wars" would you?

Hyde, your a dumb ass, having gotten to know some of these british dolphin fans...the passion they have for our team will rival or best alot of the so called local fans, i wish more of the people here were passionate about this team like they are...im looking forward to hanging with them when i head to london in october for the game...since it is going to happen whether you like it or not, why dont you make the best of it instead of trying to fuel some stupid us versus them mentality. How about directing more energy angering the ones who really need it, the stinking jet and patriot fans who live here but are always telling us how everything is great there..take those losers on, how about that instead of worrying about our british buddies.

Right on Little Shoe.A Miami Dolphin fan is a Miami Dolphin fan regardless of where they may reside. It doesnt matter where the game is or where we are our hearts are with the Fins on gameday.

yep! die hard marlins fan as well, my favourite game (that i've attended, of which there have been numerous) was the mike lowell home run/no-home run & subsequent fridge magnet throwing incident. in case you're wondering, being a proper british gentleman, i declined to throw mine & have it tucked away in a draw upstairs.
it seems to me that it still hasn't sunk in, it's a rotation policy! everyone will give up a home game! it will inevitably happen anyway!
some miami natives have raised valid issues about prices not being decreased & having to buy pre-season game tickets with season tickets. might i suggest not buying season tickets! whenever i've been over it's never been difficult to get single game tickets, the way i understand local tv stations have to buy tickets late in week to be able to broadcast the game.
finally, if that's your idea of an apology dave i must politely decline it.
good-day sir!

I think Mr Hyde (who I have e-mailed many times in the past regards Football being played in the UK and the level of Dolphins support) is to an extent following a party line that this is a slap in the face to the readers of the Sentinel. Lets face it... There aren't many people who subscribe to the sentinel over here in the UK.

And I can see the point of the fans who are moaning about missing 1/8th of their regular season home games. I do think they need to get over themselves about it. The Phins have a brilliant marketing move here and also have been smart. This season coming up is supposed to be a rebuilding yet - new coach etc. If the experiment is a success every NFL team will be expected to play a home game away from the USA at some point in the near future. This way the Dolphins are choosing to avoid being forced to do that during a season where they are expecting to reach the Superbowl.

Regardless asking UK Dolphin fans a series of questions to prove if we are "real fans" is a pointless exercise. Often UK fans are MORE knowledgable about the Phins than people who regularly go to home games at Joe Robbie (I refuse to call it anything else). I've paid a small fortune to see the Dolphins play at home before and was shocked and disappointed by the amount of drunk, un-interested fans around me many of whom left at the 3rd quarter.

There I was calling the plays and explaining them to my father and a group of bozos who claimed to be season ticket holders started trying to tell me I didn't know anything about the game. They then proceeded to try and predict the play calling (failed every down), tell me who was on the field by their jersey number (Once they got past Marino's 13 they struggled) and what the defense were supposed to be lined up in.

I got fed up having to correct them and was glad they all left at the end of the 3rd to avoid the traffic.

I've had similar experiences at other NFL games when watching the Dolphins on the road - local fans often it seems don't have much of an insight into the game past what the bobble heads on TV tell them.

On the other hand MOST Dolphins and other NFL team fans in the UK can call formations do know their stats and history because we cherish the teams we support. Absence makes etc etc.....

I just wish I could get tickets for the game in London. Even if it is 400 miles south I'd travel. But many of those tickets have been bought up already - mainly by those who aren't Dolphins fans and often by fans who don't even live in the UK. But that's life this will be a great occasion. I just wish I'd be in the stadium instead of watching the game on TV!

Wow, i'm impressed. I didn't know you could get internet access in caves!
I bet that took you ages to come up with that one. Is that the best you can offer to this debate? You're forgetting something...we are all Dolphin fans here. Feel free to vent your spleen but don't take it out on us. That's insulting.

Well done dave. After winning the world series, many here would have heard of the Marlins, but I liked the Marlins better when they had Al Leiter and Gary Sheffield. Then they dumped em all. So go Yankees.

I have to presume that this boring article was written to get a grin out of those Englishters across the pond since it is about as interesting as last months tire kingdom ads to the Florida fans. I normally like Dave's writing so I'll give him a pass on this one considering the time of year ... lets see ... last month I could have gotten a set of Michelin's for my car for how much $??

I still dont like the fact we had to give up a home game it could be done a better way but if our management wants to slap the fans they are already raiseing tic prices on be my guest,This is a guttsy move now but what will be the long term effects!Have you ever stuck around someone who slapped your face I think not!Should have been more thaught here!Nothing against our Brit Brothers!HELL YEAH!!!!

Hyde writes a column telling us he didnt know what he was talking about.
Mondays column will focus on water being wet and the Earth possibly being round.
No shortage of idiots STILL blaming the Dolphins for something the NFL did.Just keep thinking "our management" did it.Dont let facts confuse you.

OK Hyde...this is why the world hates us!!!! Your smug second article is worse than your shallow first article. I live in New Jersey and the same attitude exists in the NY/NJ area...we're the best and the rest of the country has no clue. Since I and my family have traveled all over this great land we know that the rest of the country not only is great, but is BETTER than this area...Hyde....you sound like a New Yorker and your aloof attitude disgusts me!!!!!

regardless of what the Brits think( and I thank all of them for being passionate Dolphins Fans) the NFL put a screw job to this team. So the Giants really get 9 home games and the Fins get 7. Nice !!!

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Virgo

If the past few days have been a blur of cooking, washing up and wrapping paper, take a break today and catch up with loved ones. Have a long talk with one of them so you can find out what they've been doing lately, or discuss a topic that concerns both of you. Right now, you're blessed with plenty of diplomacy so the conversation should go well.
