I GUESS THE INFLATED PROPERTY TAXES CAN'T PAY FOR TRASH. OH., I'M SORRY, THIS ISN'T A TAX, THIS IS A FEE. THAT'S WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THEY LOWER PROPERTY TAXES. THEY WILL JUST COME UP WITH LOTS OF FEES. MANY HIDDEN.

I agree with the man in the story. I'd rather have a big rolling trash can like they have in other cities. The amount of time we waste smashing trash into blue bags is upsetting. The system stinks, literally.

So what is my required garbage output for my household? Will I be required to generate enough trash to keep the billionaire owner of Waste Management rolling in money? What a bunch of crap! They had a fair system in place and suddenly it's not fair because profit isn't high enough. Since when is taking trash to work skirting the law?

Why can't residents use regular store purchased garbage bags vs small sized Plantation city bags just like all the other cities in Broward?

If they're going to charge a fee it should be a flat fee across the board and forget the bags and either provide garbage cans like the Cities of Ft. Lauderdale and Hallandale.

And if your a single person, or travel alot, or parttime resident...you should be charged the same as a 6 person household.

What a racket!

Is Levy retarded? "If anyone can come up with a solution" is his question in the same article that mentions Plantation as the only city with this solution.

Maybe waste management is full of garbage, maybe the bags are working and Plantation is generating less waste. Does that mean we need to make more garbage now? I live in plantation I don't see illegal dumping and I stopped taking my garbage to work years ago. The blue bags force people to make better trash decisions, not anymore. Once again big business drives government. The service waste management provides in Plantation because of the blue bags is the worst in any city I've seen.

Why are we the only city who has to use blue bags? Anyone with any amount of common sense would say charge us for garbarge pickup and eliminate the blue bags, period. Was this even brought to the tabel for discussion?

You are obvoiusly an idiot. It is far cheaper to pay the $7 dollars over buying the blue garbage bags every month.
I guess it's YOU who are the idiot. The only way you save money with the new rules is if you use 9 or more bags per month. That means you ALWAYS put out a bag for EVERY pickup.

Well, I've been using the bags... here's what the city doesn't want to happen... I could throw my garbage in a dumpster somewhere now and save money by NOT following the rules and NEVER buying bags. I probably normally use about 6-7 bags bags a month... so the city collects between $13.74 and $16.03 from me. Now I only get charged $7.25 for not using the garbage collection service. What a great bonus!

Yeah, and don't forget how disgusting it is to have to leave the garbage sitting in your garage until garbage day. That's especially nice when for whatever reason you miss a pickup day and it spends a week fermenting in the S FL heat. This system is outrageous, lets get dumpsters like the rest of the civilized world.
