I purchased a Magic jack and installed it, found out it did not work with DSL, they sent e-mail and told me that, i had to call AT&T and set up time to put new number for DSL line, but keep in mind the warrantee is only 30 days, i went over a week and their crap still don't work and they will not honor it. they suggest me screwing someone else on the magic jack plus to get my money back. What kind of company is this!!??

I bought MJ three months ago, and it worked perfectly until this week. I stated losing my internet connection until I realized it was MJ. I would unplug it and internet connected back up right away. Plugged MJ back in and lost internet again. I need this to work as I use MJ when I work at home (bad cell zone). Would removing my CD burning software make this problem go away?

MagicJack is great other than you cannot get a n.h. phone #. I chose a ma # that I had when I was a kid that my father still has. The only difference is the area code. Sometimes I get cross talk and can hear other conversations, ethernet wan transmission static, or someone dialing a number but then again you get what you pay for. I own the Magic jack + and it fits nice inside my network cabinet. No problem powering 8 + corded phones. Plan to purchase another for additional phone lines. I do not recommend for fire & security apps as it does not meet the 24-hour NFPA-72 requirement due to battery back-up power failure purposes.

Have Magic Jack for four years now. At first it would echo, not dial the right phone numbers and cut off.

Then I bought a new computer and it works great, not one problem. It wasn't compatible with my old computer.

A couple of problems with MagicJack.
1. You have to dial the area code for EVERY call.
2. If you set the time on your phone, it lasts until you get a phone call and then resets it to some other time zone.
3. Customer service is in some other country and the basic answer is "That's just the way it is."

Other than that the service works fine.

Seems like the technically savvy people know how to use it while the computer challenged are the ones having problems. Then again, I wouldn't buy something called "Magic Jack" for my computer and expect it to work. Any product that uses the word "Magic" is already suspect.
Actually it isn't an issue of computer savvy versus challenged. The device is supposed to install itself upon attachment to your computer. If that doesn't occur for any number of reasons (such as having a Magic Jack before on your computer), then you require customer service. But as all of their customer service sites are offshore in the Philippines or India or Central America, the CS practitioners are simply reading from a script and do not have any technical training outside of the script or manual that is in front of them. That level of support is for the "technically challenged." However, if there is a genuine need for higher level support, that is unobtainable and irreconcilable as there is no way to complain against Magic Jack. Of course, they are quite well aware of this also.

I have had MagicJack for 5 years now and I feel that the MagicJack plus works better since it works right off the modem and is less susceptible to poor call quality due to computer issues such as an outdated and slow computer or other things such as viruses and the like. It also is more convenient since the computer does not have to be on to make a phone call. The main thing to remember with the MagicJack is that since it is a phone line over the internet, it is subject to interference if you are surfing the web while you are talking on the phone. For the best call quality I always close all my windows on my computer and I make sure nobody is surfing the web or signed into the internet while I am on the phone. It is an inconvenience sometimes but it's a small price to pay for the amount of money that you save.

If you are having echo, you my wish to go into the settings on you SOFT phone on the computer that comes up when you pick up the MJ phone. For the plus, you need to connect to the computer direct as if it were like the old MJ. Go to the menu and click on it, a drop down menu drops and you will need to click on the "VOLUME/headset choice. Adjust the volume on the speaker /microphone.

I have had the OLD MJ and just last December purchased another one. The New plus I have had NO PROBLEMS. The older reg MJ I experience troubles very once in a while. In the same menu there is a restart and a Choice of RUN MagicFix in the menu choice of Advanced users. If you are using the old MJ thry these simple fixes. I hope this may help some of you.

MJ have no idea of what customer service means. My account has been fouled up. Online support is useless. Eventually I obtained an e-mail address, but have received n responses to my e-mails. It appears they have no effective means to handle consumer complaints.

If you buy a Majic Jack at Walmart, Target, Best Buy....then you can return it for 90 days if you don't like it.

If it breaks 2 years from now, you simply buy another, put the broken one back into the package....and return it.

It's not that tough folks.....

As they say, be afraid, be very afraid! Magic Jack works okay until you get in a chat with them asking to cancel your subscription (in my case a five-year contract) which I used for about 4 months. THEY REFUSE TO REFUND ANY UNUSED PORTION OF YOUR AGREEMENT by first lying to you and if you persist, they use a guise of you didn't cancel during the 30-day trial period and lastly they refuse to reply/respond to any e-mails, chat's etc you initiate.
THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS WHO OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO BUSINES ETHICS WHATSOEVER!!! Any refund you request which is legitimately due you will be stolen by these thieves! BEWARE...BEWARE...BEWARE!!!

AND YOU CAN FORGET TRYING TO CONTACTING THEIR COMPANY..They have no phone numbers you can call and the dunces they hired to chat with you have marching orders if you have a refund due to ignore your request or insist that you've already been given a refund. This after I was already a MG customer for 5 years with their original unit they sold when I upgraded to the PLUS unit and four months later wanted to cancel my service and FIVE YEAR PAID CONTRACT AGREEMENT. Were I you, I wouldn't give these thieves anymore dollars than what is required to get the service going if you choose to use Magic Jack. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

My husband got rid of our landline and now we were using magicJack
As our home phone ,yesterday he came home and asked me who called apparently the number rings on his cell phone. Today when I was on the phone long distance it sounded like somebody else was on the phone. Is there a way for his cell phone to connect to magicJack when I'm on the line therefore eavesdropping on my conversations? I'm not too sure I like magicJack so far, and now this is really creeping me out.
Thank you
