Verne Gay - you are an idiot. Carly's album with MCA did not flop because of "9/11"...jeesh...no wonder you're in your 50s and still reviewing TV shows...

For those of you who are upset about Carly being voted out...you do realize she actually has an album out under her old name Carly Hennessy? It was written and recorded by two of the biggest songwriters/producers of the last ten years--Danielle Breisbois and Gregg Alexander. It's a great album. If you love her so much, buy it--she sounds 100x better on it than any of the sh/t she has sung on AI.

Personally, how on earth could she be allowed on this show in the first place. Unlike a Taylor Hicks who recorded albums on his own before going on AI, Carly had an album out on MCA RECORDS! A video was made...I heard the single on the radio when it came out...bought the album b/c it was written & recorded by Briesbois & Alexander (formerly of the New Radicals)...it's not right that she is put in competition with other people who clearly have never had professional experience such as this.

I can't believe Brooke & Jason werent in the bottom 2. Jason was in shock himself... Jason should have taken his whining behind home weeks ago.....I have to mention Syeisha was GREAT and she should have NOT been in the bottom 2 at all last night......And Carly should have NOT gone home!

Yup - this was a travesty...Without question, she is/was the top female vocalist this year.

They should just rename the show Tween American Idol or Tiger Beat Idol. It's not a singing competition, it's a tween/teen popularity contest. Jason seems like a nice kid but he has no vocal range AT ALL and his performances are all the same. No wonder the ratings are plummeting for AI.David Cook is very talented and should win, which means he probably won't.

"Yet as Randy Jackson observed last night, this week seemed to be more of a popularity contest, and Smithson never seemed to have a convincing edge in that category."

ARE YOUR KIDDING!! That's what this show has been from the first season, a popularity contest. And that's genius, what a great way to insure a top selling CD. Let the people who will buy the music pick the artist.

A terrible injustice was done to Carly Smithson last night. American Idol has turned into a popularity contest and not a singing competition for which it has always been. Seeing Smithson and Syesha Mercado in the bottom 2 was a shocker when clearly the bottom 2 should have been Brooke White and Jason. Still I know that voting is a part of it,and people are entitled to their opinions. I am starting to get worried that one of the David's could be in trouble next week.

Personally I am glad to see Carly and her phoneyness and ego leave.
She never came across as sincere to me. If she gor got comments not liking a performance, her face would be like.."me?? You think I was bad??" Also because she has recorded before..she didn't belong there.
Sadly..I agree that kids are voting too much and David Archuleta (who is NOT that good) might win over David Cook who is much more talented. The judges should have some inout into the voting too...but it is "American" Idol...and the people choose.
Now I am 59...if you would like to make fun of older people. Michael Johns should have stayed. Others should have gone and I will again say that David Archuleta does not impress me at all. Best seller would be David Cook for concerts and CDs.

I am disappointed to see Carly go so soon. As much as I don't like her tatoos, her voice is amazing. For America to continue to vote for Brooke, the drama queen and Jason, who really needs to rethink the dredlocks, makes me wonder how in the world a truly talented performer like Michael Johns or Carly could ever hope to win!

My 12 yr old daughter and her friends voted 17,000 times for Jason Castro because they like his braids.
At this point the teenies aren't even listening to the music and are going on pure popularity.
That's why this show is a farce.
Jeeez, I hate to see your phone bills, the kids have nothing better to do that vote 17,000 times??, I guess standing on a street corner and hoeing would be out of the question, Huh??? They should allow one vote per call or text provider to be fair.

It must have occured to someone that singing the out of context lyrics to Jesus Christ SuperStar ("who are you?what have you sacrificed? etc.) to a FOX , generally right wing , Christian audience could have been the trouble here...(on top of Carly being "from away" and sporting tatoos)...she and David (and Shaisha this week) are clearly the best overall performers...The others although nice and cute aren't even in the same ballpark. Guess this is the price one pays for appearing on FOX. Just wish the contestants were educated about this issue before the contest began.

To everyone complaining about this being a popularity contest: wake up! STARDOM is a popularity contest! Do you actually think that ALL successful pop/rock stars succeed based on their talent alone? I, too, am surprised it was Carly, and not Brooke, who was eliminated this week, but NO WAY was Carly going to make it much further anyway. Look at the remaining contestants - they are all talented, but David A is also charming, David C has the intangibles, Jason is a handsome guy, and Syesha and Brooke are very pretty. Carly is not so pretty, and is made even less so by those tattoos.

This country has turned into the biggest bunch of whining, lazy, idiots!!!! You don't have to earn anything anymore. All you have to do is "try your best", even if it sucks, get all teary and pouty over it, and everyone will decide that that is enough for you to "deserve" to win.

I keep reading it over and over in the every blog I read: "Who cares if she's not the best? Getting up there is really hard and she tried her best!! She DESERVES to win." No one DESERVES to win. This is a contest. You win by working hard to be better than everyone else. Not by being more pathetic than everyone else.

I am so done with this show.

Btw, Bilbo Baggins' comment is the No. 1 reason Carly kept falling into the bottom three. People keep thinking this is a competition for amateurs only.

No, it's not.

This is not American Amateur Idol. It's a singing competition. There are people there who've been in bands, who can play multiple instruments, who've had parents spend thousands of dollars on singing lessons and practice room. Do they deserve less consideration than someone who only sings on their farm while feeding the pigs?(Season 2, if I recall...)

What an ignorant perception, if that is the case. You want only amateurs?? Go vote on Community Auditions.

When woman is trying to win a nationwide popularity contest, it doesn't help that she has her arm and shoulder covered with a hideous tattoo, and her husband looks like he belongs in carnival sideshow. Is that fair? No. Is that a fact. Yes. I'm surprised she lasted this long.

Last night's American Idol may be the last I'll ever watch. This has become about tweenies and 13-year old mosh pit residents calling the shots. What can they possibly know about talent? I get it that Jason is adorable. But who can possibly make up Brooke's fan base? She is the most annoying female with limited vocal range and style.
Looking forward to "So YOu Think You Can Dance". That show, thus far, has been about talent!!
looking for REALITY from any reality or viewer call-in show is sorta a waste of time.... read a book

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Pisces

Whether the excesses of the past few days are catching up with you or you're feeling drained for other reasons, you need as much rest as possible today. Once you get tired, your defenses will be down and you'll start to fret about whatever is currently nagging away at the back of your mind. You're also concerned about the welfare of a certain person, which doesn't help.
