I hate this place for good reason:
My "Crime" I was in the state of florida and got sick from over drinking vodka and needed detoxification/hydration, That is how I became imprisoned at "Fort Lauderdale Hospital". My stay started with the door locked behind me, I realized this when I went to go out for a cigarette so I could focus on the intake paperwork... Too Late I was to be another victim of these sick people who run this place. Your intake includes a "BODY CHECK" by this rubber glove pervert who gets off on it. He tells me "SQUAT AND COUGH" I attempt to refuse such disgusting treatment and am told to comply or things "could get rough" so its NAKED and SQUAT AND COUGH.
I was woken up at 5am to stand in line for blood pressure daily, when wake up time is 6:30 8 hours rest/sleep impossible. The blood pressure machine was set over 200 and was crushing and painful, they didnt care or fix it. Patient complaints are jokes.
Then I am accused of mental illness, coerced medication is part of the program. 800mg seraquel, trileptal (some "mood stablizer" Squat and cough put me in a bad mood) and haldol 20 mg. "Mouth Checks" That's for patients who don't know to or are afraid to refuse toxic amounts of CHEMICAL RESTRAINTS.
The 600mg dose at night would have given my heart muscle "restless legs" like 25 mg dose did to my legs in the past and I told them this.
Haldol !! what ? no thanks. Trileptal, not in this life would I Start putting that in my body every day knowing that if I was to stop in the future it causes withdrawal siezures !
I will never forget at dinner when this young woman refused an "order" to sit down and said "No I want a salad, I didn't get a salad" and was forcibly grabbed and removed from the cafeteria . I was shocked . I will never forget her screams of terror as she is dragged to the elevator and then pinned in the back of the elevator forearm across the chest by this sick sadistic control freak. No female actor in any horror movie could replicate a real life terror screams like I heard in real life as this young woman was assaulted !!!
Then she is futher "punished" by having to go the rest of the night without a cigarette break out in the cage and spent the rest of the night crying.
As for me "refusal to take medication as directed" is a symptom of the illness" DSM IV Whats my illness? Intelligence? Compassion for others and self preservation ! Alcoholic, ya mabey. I drank to much vodka in the florida hot sun.
No one ever gets a Brain "chemical imbalance" TEST before being started on psychiatric drugs with side effects of "lowered life expectancy".
I was threatened with "injectable form" neuroleptic drugs by the doctor who allowed the staff to do the same and then was threatened with the "state hospital", to try and "break" me.
This refusal of huge amounts of drugs was used as a reason to extend my stay to ripoff my family 1200 miles away and they knew what they were doing.
Thats the whole truth of it.

I was put on "mental health trial" behind closed doors where nothing you say matters trying to get out of psych-jail(false imprisonment)for several hundred dollars a day, Extortion !
I said I refuse "chemo-therapy" for my brain...(nueroleptic drugs).
Informed consent to treatment was not given to me.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS:
Parents are being mislead by a multi billion-dollar a year child drugging industry that a diagnoses of "mental disorder" (ADHD, Bi-Polar, Social Anxiety Disorder) are medical diseases or illnesses. This is a fraud. No child has a brain scan, blood test, X-Ray or any evidence of physical abnormality to verify they are "ill" or "diseased."
Yet psychiatrists continue to pound the public with misleading and fraudulent statements that these so called mental disorders are biochemical or neurological conditions.
That is false !!
They are simply a list of behaviors that psychiatrists vote into existence and insert into their billing bible, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
This has led to over 8 million children in the U.S. taking mind-altering psychiatric drugs.
Currently, due to the massive growth in psychiatric drugging of children and youth and the current targeting of them for even more psychiatric drugging, many have made attacking this problem a priority. Children are virtually always forced to take these drugs because it is the adults in their lives who are making the decision.
This is an unfolding national tragedy of immense proportions. As part of this mission, many are dedicated to exposing the truth about these drugs and the courts being misled into ordering people to be drugged and subjected to other brain and body damaging interventions against their will.

Here is some more truth about this place
This drugging of our nation's children is tragic because of the very dangerous, toxic nature of these substances. It would be tragic even if the so-called psychiatric diseases of childhood were real diseases like diabetes or asthma. It is beyond tragic, however, when one confronts the fact that these "illnesses"—ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, etc.—are only alleged or imagined diseases. Real disease is discovered by medical scientists, confirmed as an objective, identifiable physical or chemical abnormality such as a cancer tumor or a blood sugar imbalance. Alleged disease is proclaimed by fiat. Mostly these consist of so-called mental illnesses. Most common in our nation's children would be "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder"(ADHD), followed by others like the current rage named Bipolar Disorder, and Depression. These "diseases" are not discovered, and there is no verifiable physical or chemical abnormality. Rather, a group of "experts" from the American Psychiatric Association decides that certain behaviors (called symptoms) are abnormal and votes these sets of behavior into existence as diseases. For example, ADD was voted into existence in 1980, and ADHD in 1987. It is difficult to estimate the numbers, but we think it is fair to conservatively say that at least 12 million young people are on psychiatric drugs in this country today, and many of them are on a few or several!

In 2004, the U.S. Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) issued a report stating:“The DCIS has found an increase in fraud in the delivery of mental health services, including those provided by hospitals, clinics and private practitioners. A review of recently completed and ongoing investigations suggests that psychiatric and psychological services are vulnerable to abuse, particularly in the following areas: billing for ‘phantom’ psychotherapy sessions;billing for excessively long hospital stays for inpatient psychiatric care; providing kickbacks to physicians; and grossly inflating the number of psychotherapy hours provided to obtain thousands of dollars in overpayments from government and private insurance programs.”
This place is a crime.

This hospital is disgusting & I found out today that my son contracted Heatitis C from here! There is no cure for this disease & NO 11yr old child should have to get something because the hospital is disgusting & dirty & obviously was using dirty needles because the only other way to get Hepatitis C is to have sex & my son is 11 & not having sex!!! I contacted an attorney & am suing the shit out of this hospital for medical malpractice!!! Dr. Iyer was "treating" my son while he was there & actually told me to choose my own medication because she was mad that I was not going to allow her to put my son on a medication that actually caused autism in many cases & also stroke! They just want your money or the money they collect from your insurance & will keep you longer than needed just for the money & DO NOT GIVE A F*** about the patients! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!

Dear angry parent,
In a similar case reported in The Herald on June 4, a Tamarac, Fla., woman, Norma Tringali, has sued Fort Lauderdale Hospital and a psychiatrist, Dr. Sohail Punjwani, who worked there, claiming both overmedicated her 16-year-old son with a cocktail of mental health drugs, some of which have not been approved for the treatment of children.
The son, Emilio Villamar, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder by Punjwani in 2002.
According to the article, the teen was given 16 different drugs, some of which he was still being given when he died from a heart attack.

Punjwani, who practices in Tamarac and has offices elsewhere in South Florida, was treating 7-year-old Gabriel Myers when the boy hanged himself with a shower cord in a Margate foster home. The boy's death prompted a yearlong probe by a Department of Children & Families task force, as well as proposed legislation before the Florida Senate. Before Gabriel's death, Punjwani had prescribed several powerful mental health drugs -- some of which had not been approved by the FDA for use on children and had been linked to dangerous side effects, including an increased risk of suicide among children.Punjwani also was sued last summer by a Tamarac mother who claims her son, 16-year-old Emilio Villamar, died after being overmedicated with a group of mental health drugs at a Fort Lauderdale psychiatric hospital. http://www.psychcrime.org/news/index.php...

The FDA sent a warning letter to Dr. Punjwani, describing inhumane maltreatment of children in the trials:
Punjwani gave one child doses ``in excess of... specified limits.'' The girl was ``overdosed'' on the drug for more than two weeks.
The child was discontinued from the trial before it was completed,``due to worsening auditory hallucinations that apparently caused the subject to lacerate her wrists.''
Another child, "Subject 1001" weighed 103 pounds: the child ``was overdosed on study medication for 20 consecutive days while participating in the study,'' the letter states.
A child identified as ``Subject 1003,'' who was 15 at the time of the trials,``was overdosed on study medication for 21 consecutive days while participating in the study.''
``Subject 1004,'' a 16-year-old,``received doses in excess of the maximum target dose for 3 consecutive days while participating.''
A 10-year-old, identified as ``Subject 1007,'' was ``overdosed'' for nearly two weeks while on the study...
According to the FDA letter, in one trial, six of seven children -- chosen at random -- who received one of the tested drugs in Punjwani's study, the dosage exceeded what was spelled out in the protocol.
The FDA letter does not specify the names or types of drugs the doctor was testing, and a spokeswoman for the FDA, Sandy Walsh, said "such details are kept confidential to protect drug companies."

Fort Lauderdale Hospital is a snake pit. It is "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" mixed with all the elements of a county jail. The staff is unprofessional, hostile and dehumanizing. They put all patients on mega doses of drugs. The "professionals" are mental health techs, who I believe complete a 2 week training course. The "nurses" are not RNs but LPNs with little training. The "psychiatrists" show up once a week to sign off on charts that are completed by uneducated assistants. The medical doctors look at charts and complete checklists 3 minutes per day. The intake process is also complteted by checklists. There is no professionalism, and they will bilk your insurance for evry dime they can get. This is a sadistic money making machine that is filthy, poorly managed and detrimental to any self respecting person. If, however, you want to punish someone or use a "scared straight" tactic...this would be the place...otherwise, I would not send my dog there.

I was also abused by this "hospital", given a bogus diagnosis and like others said my refusal to let them drug me into oblivion with those pills was used as a reason to make threats, hold me longer and ripoff my insurance. Beware of "Dr Ventre" he is a crooked quack that knows how to abuse you and the system.

My daughter was sent to this place since there were no other beds available for adolescents in the area. She was bakeracted for taking a bunch of pills. This place is dirty and gross. I have been trying for 2 days to get her out. DONT NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!!! I called the Fort Lauderdale police-they came, but couldn't help too much. I am being told lies by the staff. The psychiartrist, saw her once a few dsys ago, then sent someone else who spoke to her for a few minutes. I signed a form today and she better be out tomorrow or I will freak out!! They should be closed up! Also, had her on Prozac 30 for 2 days and called me today to increase it to 40-I said NO, Depression needs to be treated with a balanced approach-diet, exercise, talk treatment. These doctors are ignorant fools!! Bad place!!!!!!!
