IRS, AP and Benghazi Show the Failure of Obama's Big Government

Big Government Makes For Big Obama Screw ups and More Waste...

The leadership failures and bureaucratic dysfunction exposed by the Internal Revenue Service scandal should be a wake up call to anybody who believes bigger government can solve this nation's problems.

How can an "impotent" bureaucracy with "poor management" and the IRS with its "capacity for incompetence and stupidity," as left-leaning commentators David Ignatius and Ruth Marcus both wrote in the Washington Post last week, possibly be trusted to take on the Obama's ambitious agenda?

If the IRS example teaches us anything, consider this a wonderful teaching opportunity to remind people that the IRS is the dysfunctional enforcement agency of Obamacare giving an inefficient organization more responsibility makes it more likely to screw up, not better able to help people or solve this nation's problems.

Now we have not just big government, but big brother running big government.

It's the culture...

Obama's woes flow out of BIG government philosophy...

The latest problems with the IRS witch hunt, the seizure of phone records from The Associated Press, the conflicting Benghazi stories and disastrous attempts to enforce Obamacare may all seem unrelated, but they are not.

Each of these events is the direct byproduct of two central philosophies of the Obama administration -- the massive expansion of the size and power of the federal government and a lack of trust in the American people.

These scandals were bound to happen. In fact, it was inevitable, and there will be more. President Obama has grown the size, the scope, the debt and the power of the federal government to such irresponsible proportions that problems like these are an inevitable result.

Now we have not just BIG government, but BIG brother running BIG government.

CHICAGO — Not a single gun shop can be found in this city because they are outlawed. Handguns were banned in Chicago for decades, too, until 2010, when the United States Supreme Court ruled that was going too far, leading city leaders to settle for restrictions some describe as the closest they could get legally to a ban without a ban. Despite a continuing legal fight, Illinois remains the only state in the nation with no provision to let private citizens carry guns in public.

And yet Chicago, a city with no civilian gun ranges and bans on both assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, finds itself laboring to stem a flood of gun violence that contributed to more than 500 homicides last year and at least 40 killings already in 2013, including a fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl on Tuesday.
To gun rights advocates, the city provides stark evidence that even some of the toughest restrictions fail to make places safer.“The gun laws in Chicago only restrict the law-abiding citizens and they’ve essentially made the citizens prey,” said Richard A. Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association.
Won't be a need for gun control. Thanks to the NRA generated hysteria there aren't any bullets to put in the guns.

Okay Carol, let's go through this one more time ignoring the political theatrics from both sides;
Fact: The IRS is required to determine whether organizations applying for special tax status are "social welfare" groups or are instead engaged in political activity. Political groups cannot get the special tax status these groups were applying for.
Fact: Only one-third of the groups that were passed to specialists for a closer look were "conservative." Lots of other organizations were also checked, including progressive organizations.
Fact: No groups were audited or harassed or "targeted" or "singled out." This was about applications for special tax status being forwarded to specialists for a closer look to see if they were engaged in political activity that would disqualify them for the special tax status. This closer look is the kind of review all organization should get, but the IRS was swamped because of the flood of groups applying for a status that let them mask their donors, after Citizens United.
Fact: No groups were harmed. There were delays while the groups were checked to see if they should have special tax status. That's it. But the rules are that they are allowed to operate as if they had that status while they waited for official approval.
Fact: The only groups actually denied special tax status were progressive groups, not conservative groups. In 2011, during the period that "conservative groups were targeted" the New York Times carried the story, 3 Groups Denied Break by I.R.S. Are Named . The three groups? Drum roll ... "The I.R.S. denied tax exemption to the groups — Emerge Nevada, Emerge Maine and Emerge Massachusetts — because, the agency wrote in denial letters, they were set up specifically to cultivate Democratic candidates."
Fact: The IRS commissioner in charge at the IRS at the time this happened was appointed President George W. Bush.
Fact: According to the inspector general's report (p. 10) in the "majority of cases, we agreed that the applications submitted included indications of significant political campaign intervention."
Where's the outrage except that only progressive groups got denied and none of the conservative groups?
My source was the Wall Street Journal.

Where's yours?

another Tea Party scheme gets shot down....

Indiana Planned Parenthood Law Rejected By Federal Agency, Supreme Court

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court declined to take up an appellate ruling that upheld a decision by U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt granting Planned Parenthood a preliminary injunction to temporarily block the law, precipitating the state's court appeals.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Chicago found the changes in in Indiana's Medicaid plan unacceptable, a decision which Indiana appealed. But a hearing officer recommended a CMS administrator uphold the agency's initial decision, which this week it did.

The changes to Indiana's plan resulted from a 2011 law that would have made the state the first to deny the organization Medicaid funds for general health services, including cancer screenings. The law had been on hold while the dispute wended its way through the courts and the government.

Indiana had argued that Medicaid funds intended to help groups like Planned Parenthood provide general health care would indirectly subsidize abortions. The Hyde Amendment, a 1976 provision named after the late Rep. Henry Hyde, R-Ill., bans all federal funds for abortion except in cases of rape, incest or when the life of the mother is at risk.

'Tea party' tempest brewing

The movement is as fired up as ever — and just as unwilling to compromise. That could spell trouble for the Republican Party.

....Most strikingly, when asked whether it was more important to cut the deficit or create jobs, 63% of tea party supporters opted to cut the deficit first. Among non-tea party Republicans, the priority was reversed, with 53% putting jobs first.

That polarization already spells trouble in the House, where tea party members recently balked at "reform conservative" proposals offered by their own majority leader, Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), beginning with a bill to increase funding for high-risk health insurance pools as an alternative to Obamacare.(Spending was spending, the conservatives objected; they opted for another vote to repeal Obamacare instead.)

It spells trouble in the Senate, where the tea party's newest star, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), has brought old-guard GOP leaders to the edge of rage by publicly criticizing them as "a bunch of squishes." He and other tea party senators have succeeded in blocking House-Senate budget negotiations, charging that talks might lead to a deal to raise the federal debt ceiling, which they oppose.

"I don't trust the Republicans, and I don't trust the Democrats," Cruz said.

And he's not wrong: Some Republicans do want to compromise with President Obama over the debt ceiling. In the short run, GOP leaders don't want to be blamed by the White House for touching off a financial crisis that might interrupt the economy's recovery. And in the long run, many in the GOP establishment — including House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio)— worry about being branded the party of austerity.

"That's the label President Obama is trying to put on us," said David Winston, a pollster and political strategist who has advised Boehner. "But if we become the party of austerity, then President Obama and the Democrats become the party of economic growth."

Instead of standing solely for spending cuts, Winston argued, the GOP needs to present a clearer plan for economic growth if it is to make headway in the 2014 elections. "Let's have a real discussion of what you would get with a Senate Republican majority," he told me last week. "We have to define a choice."

But tea party members aren't as worried about winning elections. According to another Rapoport survey, roughly three-fourths of tea party activists say they would prefer a strongly conservative candidate who's likely to lose over a relatively moderate candidate who's likely to win.

On paper, 2014 should be a good election for the GOP. It's the sixth year of the Obama presidency, a time when opposition parties historically do well. Democrats face an uphill battle to hold on to their 55-seat majority in the Senate. Midterm voter turnout is usually lower, so they can't count on the surge of young and minority voters who helped Obama win reelection.

But they have at least one asset: the civil war within the GOP. Once again, Democrats may prove lucky in their opponents.

Carol, Carol, Carol, the White House visitors logs are used by the Secret Service to know who's cleared to visit on any particular day, it doesn't reflect as to how many actual meetings took place.
The real problem with combing through the White House visitor logs is that they were a system designed for Secret Service clearance and White House security, not as comprehensive means of documenting every visitor to the White House, high to low. They miss the top end and some of the social end of people visiting the White House — people who are cleared through separate processes designed to protect presidential security other than getting swiped in at the front gate for an appointment.
Cabinet members generally speaking aren't included in the visitors logs so your assertion that he had more meetings with the White House than they did is inane.

He was asked what would be some of the reasons why he would visit the WH so many times. Not one Democratic Senator on the panel contested this information.

His answer? The Easter Egg roll.

So he either thinks he's above it all and doesn't have to take any of this seriously or he's a smartass.

Either/or, his answer reflects guilt or he's protecting someone.

Monsanto Concedes Defeat in the Face of Europe's Fierce Opposition to GMOs

North America needs to take note: Europe has defeated the biotech giant by refusing to be contaminated with Monsanto’s GMO offerings and toxic farming methods.

So why, despite massive protests from anti-GMO activists in the US and Canada, has Monsanto been able to keep a foothold in North America?

One big difference: the government here allows Monsanto to do anything they want, right up to composing their own protection acts. There is a well-known revolving door between Monsanto, the judicial branch, the legislative branch, and Obama’s various nominees...

Really hard to believe sometimes.

A president deliberately lies about a terrorist attack on 9/11 before an election leaving four Americans dead with a presidential hopeful, Secretary of State, as his accomplice.

And the left looks the other way.

A president is suspected of using the IRS to target a significant segment of the population who helped the opposition take back the House in 2010 and sets the climate for others to defy the constitution in the name of party loyalty/power.

And the left looks the other way.

A president stands by his Attorney General who broke the law confiscating journalists' private emails and phone calls without due process or just cause.

And the left looks the other way.

A Republican president would have been ripped to shreds by the liberal media on any of these issues - one was already forced to resign.

But the left looks the other way.

Is it possible we've already become Cuba and the left is part of the coup in overthrowing the constitution and individual civil liberties?

The left on here would have no problem with that.

Most Americans say that the issues being raised by congressional hearings into the Benghazi terrorist attacks and the revelations that the IRS unfairly targeted conservative groups "involve serious matters that need to be investigated."

According to a new poll from Gallup, 69 percent of those polled agreed that questions over the Obama administration's public response to the September 11, 2012, attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya deserve more investgiation, including 52 percent who "strongly agree."

On the IRS scandal, even more Americans, 74 percent, agree that issue needs to be investigated more, including 56 percent who "strongly agree."

http://www.gallup.com/poll/162584/americans-a...

Whew! At least the far left won't succeed in a coup without resistance from the majority - including a significant number of Democrats.

Just those on here have such grandiose ideas.
