I agree. And more are ready to do that. Others still want to pull the emergency break. It's too late. Better not to have their fingerprints anywhere on the driving mechanism.
If it's going to happen, republicans need to get out of the car and get out of the way.
No. Fight them and make them force their way into disaster, but don't cooperate.

There is a special place in Hell for Academicians. Today's institutions of learning are no longer institutions of learning. They are indoctrination centers.
Learning to think independently hasn't been done inside of any American Learning Institution in probably over 60 years now. Reality is what the leftist professor tells you it is. If you disagree, you get a poor grade. I've been there.
Students today just want that piece of paper so they can get on with a high-paid career. Disagreeing with your perfessor is a no-no. This attitude, however, leaves the student with no skills for discerning right from wrong, right from left or stupid from common sense and, somewhere down the road, that student will encounter a critical moment in their lives that will demand thinking skills they don't have. So they use their old professor's advice and run with it. Collectively, this causes America to shoot itself in the foot because we can't think independently. To wit: this last election.
It's a power trip for them to know you really want to smash them in the face when you stay silent to get that damned grade. It's not pleasant for a willful child to endure. I remember the feeling well.

They are a tidy bunch.
I suspect that the tide is rising steadily. There may soon be riots throughout Europe. It is reaching a crescendo where labels don't hurt anymore and have lost their intended effectiveness. Like with the Left here in this country who call people 'racist", redneck" or that evil of all evil names, "Conservative", the name calling no longer works. If I am mugged by a black male on an urban street and complain, I'm called racist even though FBI statistics will bear me out that one should fear being near and around black males much more so than white males..in fact, 8 times more so... so be it.

In Europe, the Muslim insistence on Sharia Law and Islamic cultural demands are tearing apart the social fabric. Muslims are becoming the Fifth Column in European countries. Some citizens are waking up loudly and, sure enough, are being called all the nasty names by the Leftist Bunnies. They don't care about the name calling. When your life, your livelihood and your country are being trashed and ripped away, name-calling is the least of your worries.

The Norquist Anti-Tax Pledge is Cracking — And That’s a Good Thing
Grover Norquist’s anti-tax dogma is slowly losing its grip on Republicans in both chambers of Congress. The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza has a handy rundown on the growing crop GOP defectors, but for brevity’s sake, they are Sens. Lindsey Graham, Bob Corker, and Saxby Chambliss, as well as Rep. Peter King. This is on top of Speaker John Boehner’s pithy characterization of Norquist as “some random person”(if only!).
Count me as unapologetically happy about this development.
It’s not that I’m thrilled by the promise of higher taxes.
Rather, I think the party, and the conservative movement at large, is long overdue in recognizing that the Norquist pledge has proved a spectacular failure on its own terms. The pledge was more than simply a safeguard against tax increases; it was a means to an end. Norquist memorably described that end thusly:“I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.”
And how’d that work out?

"how's that feel?" means...what? You don't make points but, like the kid poking a stick through the junkyard fence, look to make people feel bad because their sports team lost?
Cheap. Real cheap. Inconsequential, cheap, poop flinging.
You exhibit the character of an SS Specialist who tortures prisoners not because of a cause, a belief in the superiority of his race, his Fuehrer nor his country but because he just likes pulling out toenails and cutting off eyelids. As a kid, you burned ants on the sidewalk with a magnifying glass. Simple enjoyment comes from simple paths.
As an adult, you continue on this path of childish adventure looking to fling poop that other people write and even take sincere thoughts from sincere writers to twist them clumsily into your cattle-prod of enjoyment. sonicfiller has no points to make but only a childhood dream to fulfill: burn more ants before suppertime.
Cheap.
Someone you just described who should be in charge of that?
Government, Law enforcement, under what code would that be filed?

Special need or Special conduct...When's the time to say it is enough?

Amazing though, isn't it? Retiring Democrats have common sense? And the rest don't?
It comes down to this: no democrat dares to tell the truth about the King's new clothes - unless and until they retire.

So the lies are part-and-parcel of being an active democrat. Devotion to the party is everything.

Retired democrats, however, can tell the truth.

I used to disagree with that view but I've changed my mind. I believe that the only way left for wiser, cooler heads to prevail is to simply let the system break catastrophically. Then, picking up the pieces becomes the only way to reconstruct what should have been in the first place. It's a little like dealing with a teen. Just keep your peace and let them screw it up. They'll come back later and ask for help.
I think it was Reagan who said the this country is always just one generation away from losing its freedom. This is the generation Regan alluded to. It is frightening how stupidity can be held up high and glorified and carried through the streets like some football hero.
