Hope they took money away from him. He certainly doesn't deserve a raise after NFL Draft blunder!

Okay, give the guy a chance. He's trying to rebuild a sunken ship from the floor of the ocean and he deserves a chance to succeed. Let's face it, after enduring Satan for 2 years he deserves a break.

Vicki, what NFL draft blunder? Are you talking about something when he was with the Saints? As far as I am concerned he did a GREAT job with his first Dolphins draft.

Good news that the Dolphins extended him and now have their coach/GM tandem locked up through at least 2009.

Amazing to me sometimes how people tend to see different things. In looking through Mueller's extensive draft history the thing that always struck me about him was how he always managed to nail the early picks, and then never really found those true diamond in the rough types late in the draft. I was wondering if it was any coincidence then that it felt like each of his first five picks this year were all homeruns, and then each of his next five picks certainly had the feel of layups, to me...

Hmmm... not sure if this is the greatest move. I question the timing. Why was this done before the season? Couldn't this extension have waited until after this season is over so we can better gauge how he did in his first draft without Saban the Dictator?

Are you all nuts? He gets an extension for just exactly what? He was complicit, at a minimum, in the nonsense of the past two years.

He was a decision maker, at a minimum, in the plan not to draft Brady Quinn. A plan, which even JT, and others on the Fins thought was stupid -- not to mention the myriad other football experts outside of Davie.

With absolutely nothing to show for his tenure up to now, why would you extend somebody when his results have been anywhere from mediocre to awful?

And you mutts pick on poor Vicki for voicing what people around the league have been saying since the draft?

That's really strong...

I have a super secret web archive analyzer that will provide postings from most of you boneheads praising Saban two years ago. And now he sucks and CC and RM are the answer.

Do you spew out stuff just to see your mumblings on the web?

What a complete joke. How do I get on board this Huizenga gravy train? As grim as I predicted this upcoming season to be, the misery will be even more prolonged if Mueller sticks around until 2009.

Regardless of how well Randy actually ends up doing this is a huge move in the right direction, as the all in one Coach/GM title's seem to be of years past. In most if not all cases those GM/Coach titles usually didn't pan out, this way we don't have to restructure in the event we fire Cameron.

At least Matt Millen didn't bungle this year's draft like Mueller did.

At least there will be plenty of comedic material for years to come at Muellers expense.

Excellent point, Jack. Saban makes a convenient scapegoat because he's no longer here. But Mueller is as culpable as anyone else in the personnel decisions of the past two years. I've never bought the BS that Saban had total control of the franchise. Why would they even have a GM position if it was completely powerless?

I am not sold on the home run picks yet this year but hope to be. I do agree with your opinion on the last 5 picks of the draft being reaches. Though from what I have heard coming out of mini camp 2-3 of those picks should stick and possibly a rookie free agent. Still "my opinion" all those last 5 picks were 7th rounders or FA types.

We don't even know if this draft was a bust or a homerun yet, as NO ONE has taken the field for ONE MERE GAME YET. I'm totally for giving Randy a chance, but that's just it: we haven't even given him a chance to prove the worth of HIS first draft as a Phin! Let's just re-sign Randy's 6th & 7th round draft picks this year already for an additional 2 years while we're at it. Talk about jumping the gun. I really and truly hope this turns out alright, as only time will tell. I'm not hating on Randy, but one should prove their worth PRIOR to getting contract extentions. Go Phins!!!

Anyone who thinks that Randy had ANY power under Saban is naive. If you don't lock up a guy like this and bring in a new guy next year just because a few draft picks don't pan out, then you've just added to your problem. Randy is more than capable and this TEM needs stability in the front office, or have all you nay sayers forgotten that. There is NO QUICK FIX to the Phins woes, but this is just one positive step in creating stability and creating momentum. I have to admit that So. Fla fans are way too fickle. I grew up a Dolphins fan even though I lived near Boston! Be fan....or don't!
