Funny thing is they could buy commercial time during the Super Bowl to advertise this and still snag PLENTY of drunks. Thatís because alcohol turns your brain to mush, causes you to be forgetful, and allows you to make poor decisions. Don't worry the cops will be plenty busy out there tonight.

Why doesn't the government just impose a curfue on vehicles? Say from 11pm to 5am? Problem solved.

Please. Do you actually think the people traveling in that neighborhood can actually read? They could go through that area with a bullhorn announcing these checkpoints and it wouldn't be heard over the gun fire.
So all the caprice driving, forty drinking, newport smoking blacks will get to spend another weekend in jail visiting their fathers. Who cares?

Don't let you $10 drink turn into a $10k DUI. Because that's what it'll cost you to get your A S S out of trouble.

Because that imposes on civil rights. Many folks like to stay out late, party, have fun, be entertained, get laid. Go figure.

With all the talk of budget crisis, why is this happening at all???

Drivers doing absolutely nothing are going to be randomly stopped, when there is a huge number of people driving without insurance and we know where most of them are. That's just one example.

How about the constitutional issues of stopping people for no reason. Sure, it's perfectly OK.

This money would be better spent investigating corruption in government. We sure don't need randon stops to finds those slimeballs.

FYI.....The courts have mandated that anytime police conduct any type of checkpoint it must be published in by the media. Regardless, like all stories this will be forgotten after reading it. The checkpoints will still get it's fair share of arrests and citations. DUI arrests will be minimal but arrests for no d/l, suspended d/l and warrants will be high. Citations will be given for no seatbelt,no d/l in possession, no insurance,no registration, child not in car seat and equipment violations. INS will also be called to help with the illegals....
