The Bottom line:

Reward mediocrity and you get more of it.

Having a low rent owner will not make a dynasty no matter how much money the government pumps into a teams new stadium.

I think Gregg is hot. I love the way he stares down the hitter with those glasses.

Hanley reminds me of a catcher the Mets had years ago who had a problem throwing the ball back to the mound. His name is Mackey Sasser and they now have a name for his mishap as the Sasser Syndrome. We now have the Hanley Syndrome as I find it so hard to believe that a major league player cannot get the ball out of his glove. This occurs way too often. We needed this game and I'm sick of this. Gregg is going to be gone next year anyway. He's not a solid closer but you get what you pay for. Hanley had a chance to cover for the pitcher in a simple play. I'm still shaking my head. We're done now!

Once again, Kevin Gregg redefining "dominant". Certainly not his fault alone, not even close, but he's not anywhere close to dominant.

Ironic that Waltz and Hutton spent the game talking about Marlin killer players around baseball and Gregg was my nominee for the Marlin killer closer.

I was so livid after the game I couldn't find a way to post. So, after six hours sleep and two cups of coffee, I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THE FISH BLEW IT. Major league hitters are very capable of hitting 93mph heat especially when it's the only pitch coming. I don't care about broken bats. That's not a reflection on the pitcher. And by the way, have we seen Hanley botch a DP before?!?! Have we seen Hanley botch a DP to end a game before!?!? I have tickets for Friday's game against the Schmets. I'm wondering if they're calling us the Schmarlins. I'll be by the bullpen with 1,800 of my closest Met friends. Ugh, that loss is just undefinable.

Dear Marlins, way to tank the game. please lose the rest of your games so the Dolphins can play on all grass field sooner.

Keep up the good work, you stink too.

These past few losses weren't the Marlins fault. It's Kevin Gregg. He is lucky to be in the major leagues right now instead of the minors.@#$% Kevin Gregg!!!@#$%!!!

We need to pay Perry Hill whatever he wants to bring him back as infield coach...They are throwing away the season...I am SICK AND TIRED of watching Freidi 'EL Gordo' Gonzales chomp his cud in the dugout and look clueless...We need to fire Freidi and replace him with Carlos Tosca...I'm a Marlin fan through and through but this crap has been going on for way too long...WAKE UP!

Kevin Gregg needs to go down to the minor or not use him for a while. I think we should put Rhodes as the closer. I still have a little bit of hope.

A few things left out of the "story": UUUUUUggggggla's feed to Hanley on the botched DP was piss poor. It was to his throwing side and behind Hanley. UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGLA broke for 2nd when the runner on 1B [a meaningless runner] and the groundball to 2nd became a game winning single. This stiff UUUUUUGGGGGLA neds a psychiatrist since the Allstar game. SHUT HIM DOWN!!!! This is a pathetic team with no bullpen; no catcher; a stiff LF and RF and a preening peacock at 1B. What a joke the 8th and 9th were. Other teams use their video instead of watching cartoons on Sat morning.

It was one of the most painful Marlins games to watch. This article doesn't even mention the two bases-loaded walks that Rhodes and Nelson issued in the 8th. One can only wonder where this team would be with any type of middle-relief, and didn't make so many mental mistakes.

PAINFUL TO WATCH - Bench Uggla and as repeated 3 times in the last week: They should have traded for a closer back in May when this team was playing above .500. Three Points:

1) Kevin Gregg gives up three straight hits to make it a one run game. Granted 2 were broken bat flares but that's baseball.

2) With bases loaded, 1 out and 1 run lead Hanley can't turn a tailor made DP to end the game because he can't get the ball out of his glove and cannot throw the ball to first.

3) With the score tied 9-9 and a runner already on third, the ball is hit to where Dan Uggla is supposed to be standing to end the inning. Except he decides to cover the runner stealing second and runs behind second base. Who cares about the guy steaing second the winning run is already at 3rd.

Three bone head plays in a row. But Uggla's is MINOR LEAGUE Material. BENCH HIM NOW
