When Alex Rodriguez stepped up to bat during a recent Red Sox -Yankees series at Fenway Park , he was serenaded with taunts of, "You do steroids, you do steroids." Now are the fans chance to see a real MLB team. They will note how a professionaly run organization retains good players. Not to mention seeking out the best manager. Unfotuately the Marlins ownership is not at that level. Even with the bailout from taxpayer bailout the Marlins will continue to trade away good prospects once they develop into MLB talent.

The Yankees retain good players by throwing out the $$$$. And even that isn't working out for them lately.

I agree 100%. Why root for a team that plays to lose? The Bronx Bombers play to win.

ARod's a local guy, so I doubt he gets nearly as much roid flack here as the Red Sux fans gave him at Fenway.

They're only 3 games out of 1st place in a very tough division, and just a week ago they were in the #1 spot. Nice try.

That makes no sense. I could build and manage a winner with as much cash as the Yankees spend. If they're so well managed, why is it that the Marlins won the series more recently than NY? And if you're going to be critical of trading away stars, be sure you mention the players we've received in exchange.(ex. Ramirez)

Let's look at the numbers. NY is 37-29 with a payroll of over $200 million. The Marlins are 33-35 (5 games back) with MLB's lowest payroll, just under $37 million. How can you possibly talk about good management?

Yankee fans support top players. Marlins fans havent. But we did kick their butts in the 2003 WS anyway!

Objectively, which team has a better shot at winning the World Series this year, the Marlins or the Yankees?

There is a reason why the Yankees have way more fans than the Marlins.
They began playing in 1903, thats 106 years of baseball. There have been 4 generations of Yankee fans passed down from Great Great grandfather to today's kids. The Marlins have only been in exsinstance for 16 years - thats only Father to son if that. The Marlins need time to create a real fan-base.

I always love seeing the low payroll beat the crap out of the high payroll. The Yankees try to buy championships but havent won since 2000. hahahaha

The current ownership of the Marlins was given a top notch young team developed under the leadership of John Henry as owner. Loria decided that instead of risking profits to retain the talent he opted to gradualy dismantle the team. In response to critical fans he has signed some of the young talent to short term contracts. He did however let most of the pitching talent go away. Pitchers are what it takes to take a team over the top. Most of you here in South Florida are too dumb to know what real baseball is about. It is about integrity. Loria has none of that.

The fans did so support the team. It wasn't good enough for Loria. Loria should move the team to Venezuala. He has the same socialist tendicies like Chavez does anyway.

I guess most of you think it's OK for the governemnt to subsidise business that take in a large amount of cash anyway with your hard earned tax dollars. By the way since tourism is down money will have to come out of the general fund to pay the bonds. So don't give me that they aren't going to tax us crap because it is BS.

Jeff Loria has brought us a WS win, persevered to keep our Marlins in S Fla,signed Hanly long term, made great hires for the most part and always outperforms expectations. All with very little fan support. He's easily the best owner the Marlins have had.

Apparently the scum bags of UM don't care about morality and integrity of the game as long as they get their 3.9 million donation from Rodriguez. A hero NO, a cheater YES. The more I find out about this guys, the more I respect Canseco for coming out to tell the true version of baseball so called sluggers.

As a Yanks fan this should be a fun series, the Marlins probably have the best young player in baseball in my opinion in Hanley Ramirez...excited to see him play

Get ready Yankee Fans as the only think you will hear from Florida Fans at the Shark tonight is Vamanos Marleeeeeens!!!!!!!

PS - So winning 2 world series in the past 12 years isn't enough reason for the Marleeees to build a fan base??????? South Florida is home to the worst fans in sports, and tonight will be no exception!
