Hi ,
Does anyone have any info on the QOD brand of the brazilian? I have had the coppola done twice, I love it but would like my hair a bit straighter and the coppola is making me go broke at $400 a treatment. A friend of a friend has the QOD brand , it comes with a DVD, she is not a hair care professional, but someone who is well versed in the beauty industry, she has had the treatment herself done professionally since it first came out. Now to save money this person is wanting to do it at her house outside with a fan and mask in the back yard after viewing a instructional dvd. It seems that it is not rocket science if you are a fairly educated person and view the instructional dvd. I am just not sure about the authenticity of the product. Any info out there? Thank you!
Hi,please read my previous post, and yes is not rocket science to apply the Brazilian Keratin BUT you need to be aware of the risks in addition to apply it on anyone you should have a lisence unless they are your friends and such, I work with a new formula of Brazilian Keratin called Lisse, which I get directly from Brazil I order by the Liter and it works the best because it has Aloe vera extract 95% pure Keratin and 5% formaldehyde I usually sell it to salons and the people I know whom buy it from me go have it applied by a profesional so if you know of a good hair dresser I would recommend have it applied by him. I am happy to answer any questions.

The keratin complex by Coppola

http://www.keratincomplex.com/

This has literally changed my life. 15 minutes to dry it, instead of an hour. No frizz. None. zip. even in the rain near the beach. I swear to you.

Changed my life.

you should try the nano-keratin relaxer from RESEARCH IN BEAUTY.
I promise you it will change your hair.
I use to have the coppola and I had a lot of complaints like yours.
See if you can find a salon that carries that and you will see how happy you will be.
Can you tell me which Salon in the DC area does the nano-keratin relaxer? Thank you so much!

Lauren, I did the Keratin treatment a few months ago in Edgewater, NJ at Blu Salon on River Road. I am so happy with the results, my hair has never looked or felt better. My stylist is Dariann. I just made an appt for the treatment again.

I had the Coppola Keratin treatment about a month ago and I am still sooo happy with my hair. It is frizz free, almost perfectly straight and super easy to manage.
You have to understand I have SUPER thick, crazy curly frizzy hair naturally. My hair now is smooth, sleek, and easy to manage. It's so nice to see how the other half lives. i go out in humid weather and don't have to fret.
Too bad my hair wasn't like this naturally.
I have gotten a hundred bazillion compliments on it. A very happy customar

I had the keratin complex treatment done 1 week ago. Even though I ask for the Keratin complex by Coppola, the stylist ended using a Keratin complex by Pravana. I did not know this until she was finished. She said Pravana was as good as the Coppola system, and I believed her. She told me to wait at least four days before washing my hair again. I waited the four days and washed my hair. I was really exited to see the results. Unfortunately, it was not what I was expecting. The highlighted parts of my hair got fried. My hair looks dry and lifeless. Have any of you had a similar experience?

I heard by 3 stylists that Pravana is NOT as good as Coppola. You asked for Coppola and this is what you should have got...I'd go back and demand my money back and if need be, take them to small claims court. I have heavy highlights framing my face and after having the Coppola treatment there was no frying, just beautiful, shiny, straight and frizzless smooth hair.

I am set to have this process done on Friday the 19th of Sept. I have one question I assist with Baptism's at my church will I be presentable to do so before I do the first washing? I do not care if my hair is not completely presentable I just don't want it to be gross.

My hair looked great for the 3 days...straight, smooth and shiny, but not the glued down straight look.

One cannot compare Coppola Keratin Complex and Pravana Keratin Fusion.
They are both excellent products but they are very different. Also, they are very different from Japanese Thermal Reconditioning,(straightening) .
There are basically 4 catagories of "straighteners"
1. Sodium Hydroxide, these are traditional relaxers. They destroy the internal bonds of the hair causing the hair to be more straight.
2. Thio based straighteners, these can be done with or without heat. The addition of heat with a flat iron makes the process a thermal reconditioning. The internal bonds of the hair are not destroyed, but rearranged. This process needs to be neutralized.
3.Keratin "straightening" these will either have formaldehyde or ether in various combinations and percentages. These products are applied to the external portion of the hair and do not disrupt the internal structure of the hair. The keratin is fused to the hair with a hot flat iron.
4.Cysteamine based "straighteners" with a keratin boost.i.e. Pravana Keratin Fusion, Caribbean Dream Relaxer.
These products also restructure the internal bonds of the hair. It is done more slowly than the thio method, and pure protein is added to the solutions. This process needs to be neutralized.

The above is a bit of a simplified description but I thought it may clear up some confusion.

According to the 3 stylists I spoke with, they are different like you said, but certainly can be compared stating that they had majority of complaints of Pravana not lasting as long Coppola. Also, if one pays to have the Coppola treatment, that is what they should get.

The Pravana is a permanent process, unlike the Coppola which is a demi permanent process.
If someone went to a salon expecting to have the Coppola and the stylist decided to change processes or systems without the clients approval or knowledge, they should definitely give them their money back and repair the hair for free.

The Pravana Keratin Fusion produces beautiful, long lasting results, in the hands of an experienced chemical specialist. When the hair is damaged it is not the fault of the product, it is the stylists lack of experience.

I agree with you, and I hope the person goes back in to get her money back.

Ana Molinari Salons in Sarasota has the new Coppola treatment. I had it done and my formerly very curly hair is now very straight. I'm worried about chemicals so not sure if I will do it again but it does work. Quite pricey though - $300 for my short hair. I shampoo almost everyday so I doubt that it will last the six months that I was told it would last.

Denise,
I had the Coppola Keratin treatment in June. Loved it. Am scheduled at the end of Sept for another treatment. Do you know which brand of leave in conditioner to protect my hair from blow dryer damage is safe with the Keratin treatment? I happen to like the Redken product line, however I don't want to use anything with damaging ingredients. Thanks in advance for your expertise.

Dear Denise, How are you? What is the difderence between the ether and the formaldehyde and is the ether just as bad for us? What does the ether do as well? I believe the hair does gro out especially if the straightnness lasts three months like it does for most people. Your hair grows an average of 1/2 an inch a month. I want to do this so bad because my hair is so damaged. It costs $375 at a salon here in MA. I don't want to do it for so long and it does not work like it supposed to. My hair is in a virgin state and with not much of any chemicals on it. it is brittle and splitting constantly. I also have to wait until I can afford it. I usually relax my hair but Iam going to wait to do so.Thanks!!

I just got certified to apply this treatment and am wondering if anyone had any problem with clients complaining about the fumes...also when you dried the hair with the treatment in it, is it okay to blow it out with a brush a little? I think some people's bangs would not look right if they were just ironed? Lastly, if it is done on a Tues, should the hair be washed Fri? Some people want to wait another day, this is okaY???
