Given the existence of ankle bracelets and GPS technology, incarcerating people just because their immigration status is questionable is totally inappropriate. It is certainly in gross opposition to American ideals of freedom, and is almost certainly unconstitutional. (Although, it would be unlikely to be found so by the Supreme Court these days for the simple reason that a majority of the Court believes the purpose of the law is to trample the rights of people for the benefit of international corporations.) It is also a great waste of taxpayer dollars.

Did you read the article? It said officials are looking for inmates (people ALREADY in the facilities) who may be illegal. They're not looking for illegals (which I still think they should) to "lock them up".

Soto supports illegal immigrant. It does not matter if she endorse Torres. My union will vote for someone else whoever does not support illegal immigrant. It's time to vote out whoever supports illegal immigrant. Deport all illegal immigrants.

You are doing a great job San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and kudos to Sheriff Gary Penrod for having the guts to have his deputies identify criminal aliens within the county jail system.

Too bad other law enforcement agencies in Southern California are not doing the same.

You Do Not Get it: You did not read the article very carefully. Yes they are looking for people behind bars already, but it is for the purpose of keeping them behind bars AFTER their end of sentence or release due to bail, found not guilty, charges dropped to to insufficient evidence, etc.
