Not to place blame but this points out how critically important it is to keep an eye on kids around water every minute. There's nothing worse than losing a child especially to a mostly preventable accident.

I was there and it was a horrible way to start the 4th of July...or any weekend for that matter. I ran down to the lake when CPR was being started...the only thing I could do was hold the mother and her other son in my arms why I watched them work on Christian. The boys were camping next to my friends. I feel so horrible for this mother and her other son....all I could do was keep them from watching...and it's an image I'll never forget. I went back and held my 7 yr old and counted my blessings. Prayers are going up for this family...

To clarify, it happened at 9 pm and the boy was transported by wagoner EMS. It is amazing how frequently the news mis-reports things.

Your right, but lets not be to hasty about it and not saying you are, but, it takes less than 2 minutes for a small child to drown, when you count it out, it seems like forever, but at a lake or any body of water for that matter, its a blink of an eye. So let's all not point fingers and push blame because a family just lost there 7 year old child and the medics that responded to the call, well lets not forget about them either, I pray for both and god bless all of them.

Too late to warn the adults in this situation about child drownings. Just pray for the family.

WOW how easy it is for a child to be one place one second and then another place a second later, kids are so hard to keep up with at a place like this. I wonder if he was wearing a life jacket? My thoughts and prayers go out to the little boy and his family.

I will be praying for the family and anyone else involved. God bless you and may you be wrapped in Gods arms. I hope people are careful with their choice of words on here. The family may read this at some point and time. People need to realize that everything that is being said has probably already crossed their minds. They will be blaming themselves already, they don't need to be beat up by complete strangers. Please have respect.

My brother lost his life at age 11 in a Kansas Lake on a church outing. He was a excellent swimmer. Please if your going to be in the Lake wear a life jacket, it should be a new slogan "don't leave the beach without it!" The pain never goes away as years pass it just becomes more tolerable to bear.
May God be with all those who bear this tragedy.

I taught Jason in Kindergarten and he was an amazing, loving little boy. He was happy and smart and he will be missed by all who knew him. I will continue to pray diligently for this precious little mother and her other children. Love You Guys

I dont mean to disrespect anyone, I myself could not even imagine losing a child! my heart goes out to all involved too. But I cant help feel more for this little boy who was found by a stranger floating in the water, where was his parents. I am not trying to point fingers at anyone but I would be lying if I said I didnt have questions. children shouldnt be left alone by the water without supervision! Why wasnt someone looking for him at that time at night. To the person earlier that said children are here one minute and somewhere the next It sounds to me like quite a few minutes went by with no one looking for him. I am so saddened by this whole thing we all need to take a lesson from this and not take life for granted! If we dont cherish it, we can lose it!

Trust me when I say that this child was cherished!! I go to church with this family, work with the mother and had the great opportunity to see Christian almost every day. I love how people try to "help" by posting un-necessary comments. Lets just pray for the family in this time of greif. If you have comments of where the mom was or what happened save your breath and use it to pray for them. Words can not express what the mother feels right now!

Why don't you remember that this is a public forum and we have a right to post what we want and yes some might even judge. If you don't like what you are reading I suggest you go else where.

How a bout you not open this thread and keep reading.. If you want prayers and kumbaya, please feel free to start your own blog. The majority of seasoned, regular posters are only searching for details and are not here to make you feel all warm and gooey. You'll receive all the prayers and condolences from church, family and friends... most of us are not in that category. So please, don't expect the posters to fill this need.

Open public forum and people will "always" have questions concerning a child's death..especially when it was unneccesary.

Exactly how many years do we hear in the beginning of summer about lake safety?? Children should always have a life vest on in a lake. Children should not be in a lake without an adult supervisor at all times..... then we go into boat safety 101...

A horrible lesson to be learned. However, how many children are lost year after year after year because parents don't heed the advice of the experts?
