The headline should read 1,000 bus drivers take a pay cut ($1 million) to support the continued employment of 10 consultants. Cut the school year by 5 days(Arnold will permit this) and save a bunch of money. Everyone should know that not much teaching happens during the last two weeks of school.

How stupid you were by taking furlough days, the full timers would not have lost out, the cuts would have only been if you had used your "benefit" time. Next time before you vote get the facts, you have someone leading you that isn't going to be there in the next few years.

Everyone knows - crap. I teach a full semesters concepts in biology in one month to expose students to a crucial concept that is not itn the standards - the variation of life. And I do it the day we end CST testing. So don't get on your high horse if you've never been in a classroom - first you say we dont do crap and then you quote "everyone" to prove it. Goo dthing you neve became a teacher, you would have been one of the lazy ones you complain we can't fire.

Actually there would NOT be 1092 Busdrivers returned to Full time, there are only about 150 Full time drivers, the rest are part time, get your facts straight before you print a story, it took me 22 years of part time to become Full time at L.A.U.S.D.

Hey Teaches, I said NOT MUCH teaching happens during the last weeks of school. If you say more than 10% of your fellow teachers are like you during the last days of school, you are a LIAR. Go do a survey(and include students-you can chose the honest ones) to find out how many of your fellow teachers are like you during the last weeks of school and post the results here. There are exceptions like you, which is why I didn't say no teaching happens at the end of school. I will agree that more teaching happens in the second to last week compared to the last week, but EVERYONE knows that the last week of school has the least amount of teaching of any week of the year. The last week of school is the worst for teaching because of minimum days, culmination practice, picnics, school trips, various performances which other classes go to watch, awards ceremonies, and testing(which is funny because principals at elementary schools require your grades to be entered by Monday of the last week). Your problem is you are too sensitive. Just because not much teaching happens at the end of school doesn't mean the teachers are bad. Teachers work hard all year, but teachers, students, and parents expect all the "fun" celebration activities at the end. Take a chill pill and accept reality.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Leo

You'll be action-oriented today, Leo. If truth be told, intense physical activity has the ability to soothe you much more than frenzied mental exercise. Invitations to madness are the wrong thing for you, but they are tempting nonetheless. Dig in your heels and do what you know you have to do. When driving this evening, take extra care.
