Are people aware of the cuts at CCS and the motive of the superintendent? Doesn't sound like it's in the best interest of the students.

my children go to copenhagen and they love their teachers and they love all the staff if i had to choose a school for my children it would be copenhagen all the way my son is highly educated and im not sure what cuts are happening but the teachers are not to blame they do a wonderful job . and yes the class rooms are fuller and not as much one on one but the teachers do a fabulous job and the children get a great education.

More than ANYONE else, the teachers ARE to blame. Through their union, they have demanded salaries and benefits that are way beyond those who work jobs and pay taxes to support them. How many people in northern New York make a salary anywhere near theirs? How many can retire with a lucrative pension at 55?--and then get social security on top of that? How many get health insurance paid from 55 until they die? Not many. The biggest single cost at Copenhagen---and every public shool in New York--is teacher salaries and benefits. We all pay enough taxes. There is only so much money. Where would you have school boards and administrators hold down costs? Most other expenses are just nickels and dimes compared to the salaries and benefits of the so-called "professionals"..

Cuts are being made. I am not sure it is the motive of the superintendent but the assistant principal. Does anyone understand why 3 administrators are needed ? with less students? He was hired on a grant that has since expired. We no longer have a school psychologist, so who is meeting the needs of students that need counseling? What else is happening that we are not aware of.

Actually the district is fortunate that the director of student services is also a school psychologist who has picked up some of the counseling and all of the testing. They were also able to hire a MSW who provides counseling as well. I would suggest you attend the annual meeting and ask these questions you definitely will get your answers. The third administrator is awesome and has done a lot of great things for kids. I've talked to him and if you have any questions I bet he would sit down and discuss them with you. CCS is a great school we should be proud to support our school in these difficult times. Thanks for listening.

When i went to school we had a principal who could handle everything. So why now do we have to have superentents and principals for high school and elemntary as well as all of the secretaries that each one has. Those principals don't come cheap. 1 could pay the salary of two teachers. Besides most teachers are cry babies when it comes to their salary . Remember they only work 180 days a year. Most people would love their salary and the vacation time not figuring in the benefits.
