I'll be there in ten-twelve weeks if everything continues going according to plan with my husband's AIT. I'm nervous about moving to NY, honestly... I come from a tiny town full of mountains with hot summers and mildly cold winters (only occasional snow). I'm not sure how I'll adapt! Lol.

Good luck to you!

My husband and I moved here about a month ago from Texas and we really enjoy it here! Of course we haven't seen the really cold winters yet lol! We also come from a small small town but usually our winters got down to the 20's and would rarely see snow. Everyone is very friendly and helpful when you need it here in NY. We dont live on base but there are many apartments close to it so that makes it more convienient. I hope the best for you and your family!

We got here at the end of Nov. and the snow is terrible. It is always cold. My kids love the schools and there is always something to do. So far the hardest part was the snow, so at least you are coming in the nicer weather days. There is so much to do and the whole area is exceptional to Military families. We love it.

The winters are cold and long. You need to take on winter hobbies and plan a vacation during these months. It breaks it up and makes it bearable. It is a safe place overall and nice people. Just take advantage of what's here while your here. Good luck!

The winders are never ending. Like NNY resident said, get a hobby. I work at a Ski Resort and it makes the winter pass much faster. It's a decent place... not much to do in some aspects.
