My heart goes out to the loved ones of the soldier that was killed but why in the hell would you put live rounds in his weapon knowing how the stupidity was in playing this dumb ass game

Negligent behavior like this is the root cause of all gun "accidents". But the gun generally gets the blame.

Any one of the 4 basic firearm safety rules would have prevented this. Even if you don't own a gun you should know them. Google - "gun safety rules"

With all do respect, This is not what everyone is doing. Just a select few wo are tired of the monotany of daily life in a combat zone. Granted they should have found some other way to ease the time but they were merely trying to break up the down time to make it a little less dull. All soldiers do when they are there is work and sleep if we even get that. While I was in Afghanistan I would work a 14 to 16 hr day. These guys probably did the same. With a little extra suppervision from other NCO's this might have been avoided. The sad part is that SPC Tafoya is charged with manslaughter. Granted he should have cleared his waepon but really a number of circumstances led the the accidental death of CPL Greene and in my eyes the only thing he should have been charged with is Negligent discharge. My prayers go out to the families but I think the defense failed SPC Tafoya and made him the scapegoat in what is becoming an all to familiar coincidence in the Army. Lack of leadership invovlment.
