I've tried to call the depressed but no one answers. Yes I know it's a volunteer squad and there isn't always some one there.

I heard west Carthage is having some type of field day event in June. Anyone know what time, where, or what's going on at the field day?

On Saturday also I believe they have a band after the parade

Is there anything else going on? I've never been to any event like this? Are there things for children? Do the FF's talk to kids or anything? We justices here recently, I'm not sure what a ff race is?

During the day, especially early, its not too bad. Later on in the event, they pull out their souped up race trucks and roar your eardrums out. The parade is rather nice, but as soon as that is done, it turns into a drunk fest. As far as things for the kids, there should be a few games and always the races to watch. I highly doubt there will be any kind of a 'meet and greet' with the firemen. They will all be in their racing clothes, and the trucks they use are nothing like real firetrucks. Won't even be able to tell they are firemen except the logo on their T-shirt. All in all, its a good time for kids over 10, especially if they like motorsports, just clear out once the parade is done. And don't forget, wear plenty of bug spray! They are terrible down there.

Crappy. My son is really into the fire trucks, and was hoping to meet a few FF's and maybe see a truck. This is a community event right or is it for the FF's

Friday afternoon there is a training lecture at the west Carthage fire hall, starting at 430. with a open house immediately afterwards. That is probably your best shot at doing any interaction. Then I'm sure there will be plenty of trucks in the parade Saturday at 7.

Look up firematic racing on YouTube. Events all from foot races to jumping off a truck going 60mph.

I take my kids to the one in Copenhagen every year. This is the first time in a long time w.c. is doing one. I hope it is as good as Copenhagen's. The only thing I would be cautious of is hearing protection when the race trucks are running and after the parade it's a big drinking party.
