It is a shame that Greg Howell has disappeared and is probably dead. It is also shaneful that his brother, sister-in-law and friends knew what he was doing and did nothing about it. They are just as responsible through their tacit approval of his behavior and lifestyle for his disapperance. For them to blame the police for not resolving the case that they could have prevented is ludicrous and unacceptable. If they had turned him in, gotten him help and changed his lifestyle, things might have been different for all of them. People need to stop condoning illegal and harmful behaviors and start calling the police before people get hurt, not after.
Well rockyref obviously you have no experience with a family member with an addiction...anyways it has nothing to do with us not trying to help him help him. You cannot help someone unless they are willing to help themselves! whether its this that or the other the police are not to blame for his disappearance only the ones responsible are...they are to blame for not doin a thing about it ! i do not remember my uncle the druggie i remeber my uncle that cooked at family get togethers and the uncle that made me laugh and the uncle my son never got to meet and to say its our fault is ur own ignorance and lack of experience!

i cant believe what some of you people are saying, he had is flaws, so does everyone else in the world, does that mean that anyone who does something wrong has to die for it. he was a father, a brother, a son, and uncle, a person, and a good one at that, some of my best childhood memories are with him in it! some of you people are just heartless.

It's been 7 years since Greg disappeared. I don't live in IA and I don't know Greg, his family or his friends. What I do know is that it's sad that nothing more has been done to find Greg. Regardless of what he did in his past, two wrongs don't make a right. Cold cases like Greg's need to be investigated until they are solved. In many cases a crime has been committed. Those who commit the crimes need to be brought to justice. The victims deserve to rest in peace.
My thoughts and prayers are with Greg, his family and friends on this difficult day.

I'm not saying that I agree with the lifestyle he was living. But the fact remains that he's a son and a father and his family deserves to know what happened to him.
