In reviewing the content for the Warriors Transitation Course (WTC) at Ft. Bliss,(on various web sites), I have found discrepancies. They are: No start dates listed for FY 2007, or following years?, by Month and date, No week by week course schedule, and No listed training sites for all events. I have been told by the local Army Recruiters that WTC is conducted at Ft. Jackson, Ft. Knox and at Ft. Bliss only????????? I ask where is it conducted? Any detailed info is most welcomed. Now, if the US Army needs prior service personnel for necessary US Army MOS positions, then list all information on an official US Army WTC web site so interested prior service personnel can review and make a decision to join the World's Best Army.
I am in the final decision process. However, the information is not as detailed as needed. Can any one who has graduated WTC, answer my questions.

The Warrior Transition Course starts in Ft. Sill, OK, then your taken on a bus to Santa Fe, NM, for two weeks of training, then get on another bus to be taken down to White Sands Missile Range, for the last two weeks of training.

BUT!!!

This course is seriously in need of reevaluating, so many problems with the program, so many soldiers getting hurt, it’s not funny, it’s not even worth it, more for those who really aren’t ready for this, it'll take so one who is really in shape, and really up to the challenge, if there is even a hint of doubt in reenlisting don't do it, you'd probably regret it, as I have. I’ve heard that people have committed suicide, gone AWOL, hurting themselves and/or others. Sure if you pass this course you will move on to bigger and better things, but if you get hurt as I have, you'd be here for a while.

For those soldiers who get hurt there is no rehabilitation system here at White Sands Missile Range, NM. You'd probably be sent to McGregor Base Camp about 40mins from White Sands. There they have us working for them, at the same time trying to get whatever it is we need; both to heal and go back to training or if your hurt bad enough, you'd be sent home, with a medical discharge.

This program is also under budget, there isn't enough room for all of us; for a two man room, and where there are only two beds now there are 4 beds!

I’m in the program right now, or should I say I’ve been stuck for the past year in this program, since May 2006. This program makes me wish I never reenlisted.

the wtc course is not in any of those places. You actually have reception in Ft. Sill, OK. Then when they transport you to Sante Fe, New Mexico for about two weeks then they transfer you to White Sands Missile Range, its just north of F. Bliss, for two weeks. When you are in Sante Fe the main thing you do is classroom stuff like basic land nav and cpr; you also pt alot; also they issue your weapons there and you sight them in; you also throw your first grenades and hand to hand combat; and two marches. When you get to White Sands you do all of the field training and one more march. That's about the sum of it....But rumor has it that the have moved it from New Mexico to some place in Arkansas. But I have found no conformation of this

I was stationed at Ft Bliss for three years. We did alot of training at Mcgregor and White sands. If it is anything like I remember this place is not a 5 star hotel. If you are going back to the military like I am you should be use to it though. Hot as hell and in the desert. No place to run. Right across the street from Mcgregor if you get the chance there is a gas station with some great Chicken.

Check out: https://www.atrrs.army.mil/atrrscc/courseInfo...

This course is meant to transition you into a soldier providing you with the basics skills needed to introduce you to the Army way of life. If you have time, get the requirements for your age group as far as PT and start now. If you are going to NM, the elevation there is different than most places. Train smart.

It is prior Boot Camp, get that mind set NOW. It is not hard if you listen and follow the rules. Do what you are told and keep your personal thoughts to yourself. You do not get much personal time due to the training you will go through. Remember it is 9 weeks of training compressed into 4. You can smoke and use cell phones, laptops during personal time.(Or we were able to unless it has changed). I graduated on Sept. 1st of last year. Learn as much as you can and be Army strong! I wish you the best.

Also utilize your Recruiter to gather more info, that is their job. You can perform an engine search "Army Warrior Transition Course".

Well, my husband is at Ft. Sill now and will graduate in 3 weeks. He said pretty much the same thing you did, a lot of injuries, DS yelling at you like you just graduated high school, no respect that these guys have already been in the military (17 yrs for my husband)He will be the 2nd (delta battery) to graduate from there and the last. He said the next group will go to WSNM. If anyone is going, be prepared.. Get yourself ready both physically and mentally. It is a mind game, but they have a way of doing it that is for sure. I went up to see my husband on what was suppose to be their pass day (Sunday) and at the last minute they took it away from them and gave them a pass on Friday night. I was able to go, but was hard has hell!!!

So pt is intense huh? sweet i'll need it for sure. I leave may 7th i'm pretty stoked but i can honestly say i'm not in the shape i should be in.. i'm sure it'll still be a shocker, but oh well. I don't even know what is required at my age group. I'm 23. i'm sure i probably am slacking quite a bit for physical fitness. So what did they do if a person did not qualify for their age group? what kind of difference does the elevation make? Sweet tons of injuries... can't wait fot the BS. I've already served in my unit for a year and a half now and am just now heading out for my training, we never pt on our drill weekend, there never seems to be enough time they tell us to do it on our own time... Oh yeah i'm army national guard in washington state. C TROOP 1-303rd cav.
Well wish me luck all i'm going to need it.

I don't think age makes a difference, they put you all together. Kabel, are you prior service? WTC is just for the PS people. Don't get your hopes up, it not what it is cracked up to be from what I hear.

You should never have believed your recruiter that the WTC was a gentlemen's course. Yes as with any training there is a standard that has to be met. You as a military member should be well aware that you need to be in somewhat shape to conduct training. No ROUND IS NOT A SHAPE!!!! I understand that you can complain that the room issue is a problem and that has been brought to the attention of the higher command (i.e. The General, and Chief of Staff). The problem with PTRP is that you are considered to be in the WTC but as the program goes YOU do not belong to the program while assigned to the PTRP which stands for Physical Training Rehabilitation Platoon. You have to bring up those complaints to those who are in charge of you while assigned to the PTRP not bash the program because you got injured. I do agree that if there is any doubt in your mind about being in the military then you as a member should get out or not come back in.

Also heading to the wtc. I don't remember the military ever being a cake walk. I am 28 and, for the least, am not in great shape. However, I am up for the challenge. And plan to give it my all, and will make it through just fine.

iIn Responce to your rant, I would like to make clear a few things.

First of all in the 17 yrs that your pansy ass husband he obviosly has not learned a damn thing. I've been in the Army for 6 yrs. and some things have to roll right off your back . I guess i'm telling you to quit crying, and "SUCK IT UP AND DRIVE ON"!
