95 Chino mine workers laid off
Ninety-five full-time employees of the Chino mine operation were laid off Wednesday in a money-saving move by Freeport McMoRan, company spokesman Richard Peterson said.

Unlike KOAT-TV, at least the Sun-News listed the correct owner of the Chino and Tyrone ocpper mines -- Freeport-McMoRan.

All the Contractors on the Chino and Tyrone properties were sent home last week. Several hundred local people also worked for these contractors, let not forget about them.

Alpha M has a point. Many of our local famiies are going to be impacted by local and regional layoffs associated with these unfortunate economic times. It could get worse before it gets better. Let's hope not.
