Does anyone know how to obtain investigation records of a death of a family member? How long do they keep them? Can anyone find out?

It depends on if the case is unsolved or if it has been closed. These records are kept forever. If it is unsolved you need to speak with an attorney in order to get any type of information about the case. If it is solved/closed then you would have to have legal proof of identity and a legal document showing you are related to the victim and how. Such as: if you are a child to victim, you need a birth certificate proving it. Take all proof you have to the Circuit Clerk Office in jurisdiction of where incident happened, at courthouse and tell her what you are doing and what you are looking for. There is a small fee that has to be paid to get copies of the record, I don't know how much. You must be a family member in order to get anything. Hope this information helps you and good luck.

And, if by chance, it isn't a murder and is an on-going investigation of computer/internet stalking(computer porn) then all reports might not be available....esp if ur the ones being investigated. Then again, most criminals would know this and prob aren't talking to the cops and asking for reports!

If law enforcement has sufficient evidence and reason to believe that their was foul play involved (after someone has already been buried), then they can get court orders for stuff like that too.

Internet criminal search programs could be blessings in disguise--to criminals. If you are a documented bad ass, you will have more privacy than the people sticking their nose into your business. If people think you are a bad ass, they will leave you alone. And best of all: no one is likely to steal your identity.
