Is it me or does the Times-Herald seem to run a lot of coverage of Palestine sports?? I certainly don't notice a lot of other news from Palestine and I certainly don't see a lot of Palestine advertising.

The TH runs the "shop locally" ad periodically, it should apply to sports coverage as well. Perhaps the sports guy has family that plays over there... Today's picture is of a Lifetime Vision pitcher. It is a good pic and the kid has good form for his age. I wonder if Lifetime Vision sponsors a team in FC.

Maybe they should change their name to the Forrest City Area Times-Herald. I don't guess that would mean much though as we have the do nothing for its members Forrest City Area Chamber of Commerce. Forgive me, I forgot they organize the annual Christmas parade and host a we did not do anything again this year banquet.

they had a picture of someone a kid in FC in Monday's paper in the sport page. Not sure what your point is?

should the FC paper only put in pictures of things in the acutal city limits of FC or should it try and cover the region and drive in population of FC - meaning colt, caldwell, wiedner, madison, palestine, etc

they are in the business of selling papers and if putting a picture of someone from palestine sells papers in the palestine area, that is what they are going to do.

the newspaper business in general is dying a slow death and in FC it appears to be no different. take a look at the ads and see what you think.

people should support the paper, places like Lifetime Vision and other businesses that sponsor teams in our community, lord knows very few can afford it in this economy

I too recently thought there seemed to be more coverage of PWS sports. I bet the TH has a lot of subscriptions in Palestine.... I think the deal with FC businesses sponsoring teams in Palestine is that is where the white kids now play. Hopefully these businesses support the FC ball program as well.

not sure if it is that simple of an explanation, sponsoring where the "white kids" play. Could be someone that works/owns Lifetime Vision has a child or grandchild that plays in Palestine, maybe the business has a lot of customer in Palestine, etc

this started as FC v Palestine, lets not turn it into white v black.

Everything in FC eventually boils down to race. The Times Herald must do what they think is best for their business.

The folks at TH must read topix. Tonight's sports coverage was a good mix of FC and Pal pics.

The Times Herald is a joke of a newspaper.

Then I would suggest the black businesses step up and sponsor teams and give money. It is always the white business that is hit up for money. You don't see many black businesses that give money back to the community. That is a major problem too along with many others.

Absolutely! Plus, Palestine residents patronize FC businesses big time!

Where would Palestine residents patronize in Palestine?

The Poindexter guy said let's leave race out of this. The Times-Herald struggles, the bad economy hurts everyone.

I delivered the FC Times Herald when I was a very young lad in the late 50"s and the
paper has really not changed much over the past 60 or so years. I graduated from FCHS
in 1962 and delivered the paper until I was in abot the 9th. grade, but soon it was time for me to move on. Enjoy it for what it is.
