geedubya walked into the White House with a thriving healthy and robust economy. He walked of the White House with that very same economy a smoldering burnt cinder.

geedubya will get the blame for a generation. Minimum!

I remember that economy. 5% unemployment, gas was under $2. Those were some pretty hard times.

Seems like it was only $6,000,000,000,000 ago.

If we apply that logic, can we say GHWB left his son a pretty good economy?

That was back when the Democrats actually wanted to find a job.

I guess the demographics have changed!

I'm not. Bill Clinton left office leaving geedubya that healthy thriving robust economy that geedubya torched.

All I'm saying is, if something happens on you watch, like killing terrorist masterminds, you get the credit.

If the economy tanks, like its doing right now, you get the blame.

Actually, if Bush gets the blame for the economy, he should get credit for killing Bin Laden right?

The economy didn't tank during the Obama administration. As far as the economy performance during the Obama administration its head and shoulders above what he was left with. President Obama stopped the hemmoraging. We are no longer in a recession. The stock market is doing much better. Jobs and unemployment are marginal but the republican taliban in Congress have done their best to successfully block President Obamas jobs bill.

No. geedubya called off the hunt for OBL at Tora Bora. He dismantled the very CIA office that was set up to find OBL. And geedubya made the public statement that he had no interest in finding OBL.

"The economy didn't tank during the Obama administration".

I guess it depends on what your definition of "tank" is. Unless you work in a "recession proof" industry, like the federal government, it's pretty bad.

"head and shoulders above what he was left with"

If you are referring to the unemployment rate and gas prices, you are correct.

"Jobs and unemployment are marginal"

Is that what we really want? Like a "marginally" good football team? How about a "marginally" attractive girlfriend?

"successfully block President Obamas jobs bill"

That might be why they were re-elected. To follow the wishes of the people who elected them.

I don't know where you were in 2008 but that's when the economy tanked. And yes the economy is head and shoulders better today than it was in 2008. Gas prices are here to stay regardless of the economy condition. We aren't talking about football or girlfriends.....well.......may be you are.....but I'm not. And yes...President Obama submitted a jobs bill to Congress in Sept '11. Its been sitting on John Boehners desk every since. Boehner has refused to allow that bill to come to the floor for vote. Although the republican taliban ran their 2010 midterm election campaign with the "Jobs Jobs Jobs" slogan. Yes the republican taliban has successfully blocked President Obamas jobs bill. In my opinion they did it solely to attempt to sabotage the economy and deny President Obama re-election. It didn't work. They were too obvious about it and the American voters saw right through their motive.

We have been "investing" in education for over 40 years. It's seems the more we "invest", the less "return" we see.
Since corporations are making record profits, and the US has the highest corporate tax rate, doesn't that mean the treasury is receiving record tax revenue? One might even say "historic" tax revenue. Tax revenue is not the problem. The government spends too much. We need more tax payers, not more taxes.
Politicians look at tax revenue,(other people's money), as something they are entitled to. They say tax cuts have to be "paid for".
Ronald Reagan turned the economy around in 8 years. I believe he also lowered taxes in the process. Reagan hit the nail on the head when he said, "government is not the solution, government is the problem".
We haven't been investing in education for 40 years. There really wasn't any emphasis on education investment until the geedubya administration with his "No child left behind" policy. He sorta had a good idea but that program had to be changed and corrected by Obama
And it should be obvious we didn't make an investment in education considering how far down in standing the U.S. is in education performance. I think we are 15th in the world in science and math among developed countries.

And you couldn't be more wrong about Ronald Reagan. He raised taxes more times and more often than any modern day POTUS. Which brings up something I still don't understand. Ronald Reagan seems to be the Messiah for the republican taliban. They often refer to him in some regard. He was a good POTUS. But he wasn't a great POTUS.
