The Union started with Hostess, now they are trying to close down Walmart. Are our public schools next? The unions need to go. I suggest not being nice to union members. Most are inconsiderate, think they are better than everyone snobs anyway. Just treat them as roadkill (a blight on society) somethong which needs to be removed in order to make the community a better place to live. What does the unions have to offer anyway? A FREE I support OBAMA sticker.

My husband is in a union and he is none of that! The unions are there for the employees if not you would be walked all over by your BOSS and you wouldnt be making the money you are now!

Proud to be a Union member myself. If it wasn't for our strong Union my family wouldn't have the benefits that they have. Do some Union leaders sometimes make bad decisions??? Sure they do what organizations leaders don't? The good unions have done FAR FAR outweigh any bad however. If you would rather have an at-will job where your boss can walk all over you without you having any recourse then by all means take that job. I however (like most American workers) do not like the idea of being managements door mat.

If the unions were so great what happened to Detroit. They put themslves out of a job because they wanted more and more. They can also thank NAFTA another great idea from the democrats.

I hate to disagree but the unions are there for bringing in money for the union management. How much does he have to pay in dues? And what does he get in return. Since the invention of Equal Employment Opportunity and Human Resources Representatives I see no reason to have a union.

I agree 100 percent. The unions have no purpose in todays society except to promote the democratic party.

Detroit's downfall was a result of poor engineering and designing/marketing cars that hardly anyone wanted to buy during the 70's-early 90's. But the company managers who are still raking in million's in bonuses have done a good job of placing the blame on the union line workers instead.

As far as Union Dues go no one forces me to be a member and pay them, I would say I get a huge return for the small investment I contribute each pay day. Quite simply if their were no need for Unions then there would be no Unions. If people didn't feel that they needed to organize and protect them selves they wouldn't become members. I think until you have done the same job at both a union and a non-union company you have no real frame of reference.

As for Boars Head:

Boars Head plant Petersburg, VA open since 2000

Boars Head plant Jarratt, VA open since 1983

Both plants unionized. Members of the VFCW Local 400.

Try again on the Boars Head union argument, but thanks for playing.

Never been a union member. When I asked a union member what the union could do for us all they could talk about was being a member of the union. I wanted specifics and they could not provide answers. In todays society the unions cant guarantee your jobs. The companies will just close down and sell. The new owners will reopen under a new name and hire someone else. Anyway I can make up my own mind on who I want to vote for.

Unions are out for the money only , if you work @ a company that has a union, they have to protect the ones that pay dues and the ones who do not. That is law, and I know this from personal experience , from being on both sides of the chopping block. If the union has someone else they want saved, they make a deal with the company to put someone out the door; and sooner or later it will be you union lovers. Like your change ? This is not America, it's Nazimerica you idiots. You can fix most flaws in a person, but you can not fix STUPID!

Detroit absorbed the hardest maufacturing hit in American history and bounced back to producing the #1 automobiles in the World.

Taking the biggest hit and getting back on your feet.

That's so American!

Wouldn't you agree?

Unions killed F.C. No one with money is ever going to move a factory back into this city. Bunch of dumb azz's made that decision for the rest of this town back in the 80's. Why would anyone want to put up with a bunch of uneducated, hard headed, violent people? No one. Wether you like it or not. Labor is a commodity. F.C. unions priced themselves out of business. If you want stupid unskilled labor, you go to the third world for a lot less money. Educate yourself. The real world does not revolve around unions anymore.http://www.learnlibert y.org/videos/does-capitalism-e xploit-workers
