Come next Tuesday;

Milk will rise in prices to $8 per gallon.

Your income withholding tax will be increased by 2%.

Unemployment will be unfunded.

^^^ T H I S ^^^

... is what the Republican version of paying down our debt looks like.

So, let's take a reasonable look at an alternative. There's a Senate bill on Speaker Cry-Baby's desk already passed in the Senate that extends your tax cuts (save you ain't a millionaire) and extends unemployment benefits. It also lays a structure for spending cuts which can be negotiated in a given time frame.

Once you drop any party affiliation loyalty and look at things reasonably, it's not that hard to figure out what we, as a nation need to do. We need to put people to work building stuff.

We got lots of jobs that need to be done and the leader of the House who holds the checkbook says we are broke.

SO???

When did being broke ever stop an American from building stuff? We could borrow the money tomorrow to rebuild our entire infrastructure at zero interest. The jobs it would create and the taxes it would produce for our treasury would send our economy zooming past China so fast they'd think it was a misfired nuke.

The only way you build stuff is by borrowing other peoples money and making a profit to pay off your debt. It's called capitalism - 21st Century style.

Or, we can sit and wait on New Years to come in with a $2-3K tax hike, compliments of the Republican Party.

You didn't build that

The government pays the farmers to pour milk out and it also pays them to NOT grow crops. Welfare to the rich farmers, dont believe me...Google it! I have family in St. Francis County that has been paid to NOT grow wheat for years. The milk and food prices will level out.

The unemployment bottomless pit needs to be plugged up! Those people could find a job if they really wanted to, but why bother when they can get 'free' money from the government.

Do you not know we have borrowed from China to the point of oweing them our soul and our first born to fund these so called 'free' government programs and you want us to borrow more.

I think you are a welfare leach and always have your hand held out for more! Go ahead and let me have the insults you are banking in your Democratic mind. I am Republican and I pay taxes so you can sit at your computer and bash people and play Solitaire all day.

The United States, when faced with the great depression put thousands of people to work. They built roads, bridges, dams, schools, etc. The difference between now and then is this, they didn't have welfare,HUD,SSI,and all those other gimme programs. It is true those individuals received a government check, but is one they earned.Just try to get these people to work now for the benefits they receive they will look at you like you're crazy. For some ungodly reason they think we owe them something. Bythe way we came out of the depression and WW2 the worlds preeminent superpower.

What is the use of taxing the too 2% job creators, when the generated revenue will only keep the government running for 8 days.

Must be an ulterior motive.

They average American makes between $40k and $55k per year and pays about 30% in taxes. If you make $1M per year you can probably get away with paying less than 15% in taxes. What no one ever talks about because not many people are aware of it, is estate taxes. This is a tax that the government applies to money that you leave to your loved ones when you die. Right now the estate tax rate is 35% on the first million and 35-55% on any amount over $1M. Take into consideration the fact that this money has already been taxed as income and now they are taxing it again just because you died. Where is the incentive for someone to go the extra mile to make more money for themselves and their family if the government is going to get such a large chunk of it? The fed has a spending problem not a tax collection problem. I support the stance that republics are taking with the president on this issue. If Obama wants to negotiate on this then he needs to sit his ass down and start making some real cuts in his spending. Then he will get his deal.

Spending cuts?

That sounds much too rational.

The government is supposed to work for us.Think about this, if you go out and spend all your money, write checks that you can't cover, do you think you can go to your boss and demand more money or a raise.Try it see how that goes. The government needs to do what we do ,learn to do what they can with what they have.Tax increases for people who are already paying taxes is unacceptable, instead , focus on increasing the number of people paying taxes.Do this and automatically reduce deficit and increase revenue.
Why do we keep electing idiots, can someone please tell me?

You're exactly right but it's nearly impossible to increase the tax base without raising taxes. That's why the only real solution to our problem is to cut spending and that's the reason republicans are standing their ground on this issue. The left is trying so hard to blame all of this on the right but the fact is that Obama is the one who is refusing to cooperate for the good of the country. If republicans continue to stand their ground then we will end up with a balanced budget when this is all said and done and Obama will be on his soap box taking credit for it.

Middle class and working class pay plenty of taxes. They have their payroll deductions, and since they almost always spend their meager paychecks they pay sales tax on their purchases at grocery stores, clothing stores, even their utility bills are taxed, and ... if they purchaes anything of real value, like cars, boats, furniture, then they will pay a property tax.

Millionaires only spend tax deductions. Every dime a millionaire spends is tax deductable.

And >>>>> if you aren't making enough money, it is exactly the right thing to do by asking your boss for a raise. If you're worth it, you'll get it.

Is America worth it to you?

It sounds like you are saying taxes are too high? I agree, all "classes" pay too high a tax on too many things.

If you think having a net worth over $1,000,000 somehow exempts one from taxes you are incorrect.

If "Every dime a millionaire spends is tax deductable", then why is everyone arguing over tax rates for the "rich"? If you assertion is true, rates don't really matter.

Since your previous posts make no sense, this doesn't surprise me. Rich people pay most of the taxes in this country, and there is no need to argue that point.
