I just learned that the new principal has been working as the asst principal for the last few years.????????? How does this make things better?

I really am being sincere in my question. It doesn't make since to keep doing the same old things that doesn't work.

When tyrants and dictators tie your hands and destroy everything you try to do to make high school better all while disrespecting your position, it would have been hard for any principal. An outside person is much better for leadership at high school if given proper autonomy. Same for a superintendent here. No good ole boy system. No special relative and kin favors. No hidden agendas and dirty politics.

R. Murphy was the assistant principal before he took over at the Jr. High. I think he has done wonders there. Just because someone is part of the current administration doesn't mean they are in a position to demonstrate their abilities until they are given the authority to.

Who tied Mr. Earle's hands?? Dr. Woods? Weren't they friends before they came here? That doesn't make sense. The best I can tell 3 members of the board did not support him one time when they effectively blocked an expulsion. I don't know the particulars but perhaps they had good reason.
Who exactly are the tyrants and dictators?? What are the hidden agendas and dirty politics? I have missed something somewhere? Please explain.

Sounds exactly like what one male school board member was whining about on facebook a couple weeks ago (and was erased after people called him out on it). He moreless said the same thing, so either you are him or one of his followers. If you are him, which I believe is to be the case, funny how you also get on facebook and complain about things being said on this forum and hiding behind a name. This statement which he wrote on facebook had to do with him not attending a school board meeting (where they were going to weed out the applicants for the super position) because he forgot. He tried to say he didn't know about it. He was in the meeting where it was discussed, the date and time and location of meeting to discuss applicants they did not want. The next day when people were asking him why he didn't show up at the meeting he came up with a million reasons, particularly that he was left out and not told about the meeting, which is a lie. All school year, all he posted about on facebook was how wrong it was to have uniforms, he very rarely addressed any other issues, that is until someone called him out on it (and he soon erased it), saying he needed to stop worrying about uniforms and address the discipline problem and other major issues. A couple weeks later he is all over discipline like a fat kid in a candy store. He can say what he wants on facebook, but he is only trying to save face, make himself look good, self promote, try to get people to feel sorry for him and get re-elected. The rest of the school board was been addressing the discipline problems, but he is the one who kept bringing up the uniform policy. He was the one who has voted twice not to expell a student on the reccomendations of teachers, principal and super. Explain that one? Now he is all for disicipline? These people who are tyrants, dictators and who use the good ole boy system are exactly who? Other school board members? Why? Because they have been trying to make the district better since they were voted into that position and addressed real issues while all you wanted to do was discuss the uniform policy? Please answer these questions, either on here or on facebook, I will be waiting.
You prove my case. Too caught I'm on personal agendas. Your agenda is to follow every single step of one person. What about the terrible conditions of schools. No I'm not this board member you're obviously in love with. I'm also so not a male. I'm an ex-teacher of that district and I stopped coming to board meetings long ago because of all the crap I mentioned above. Your posts are hogwash and self-centered. Learn how to have an intelligent debate or discussion about the issues instead of stalking people. The more you write the more it shows. Forrest city has to kill the good ole boy system. It's a fact. It hurts industry all over town let alone schools. Just happens to be worse when it schools because you don't care how it affects the districts students. You are the reason good students and good teachers leave. You are a clueless individual with a wierd fetish!

My friend, it has nothing to do with color. Have I mentioned race at all? No Ma'am, I have not. Please remember, you my dear, threw out the race card. The others do not have a 'plan' they threw together because they have been working on everything to begin with, unlike someone else. Who are the wealthy board members? Your definition of wealthy must be different from mine, because they may be able to pay their bills, have nice things I would not say they are the wealthy citizens of our community. Since I have your attention, have you read any post on Facebook? He begins a sentence, the subject part and then puts a period. In case you or anyone else needs a refersher, the two main parts of a sentence are the subject and the predicate. The subject identifies the person or thing the sentence is about and the predicate makes the statement or exclamation, asks the question, or gives the command. If he would stop acting as if he has always been for discipline I would lay off, but he has not been. Do you see other people on Facebook stating how they mentor youth, help out at their church and volunteer? You are right, he is an attention grabber, which annoys me.
I see now that something is really wrong with you. First of all, how ignorant you were to assume and think I'm someone you know or think you know. After reading this post you sound homicidal. I would be concerned if I was whoever the hell you are talking about. What do you care how somebody writes a sentence on a facebook update. What does that have to do with anything? Why do you befriend anyone and follow them so much if they annoy you? Last I checked I thought it was a fairly simple process to delete them from your friend list and newsfeed. Have you tried that? Are you going to murder this person? In my crimology studies you definitely fit the bill of those kinds of maniacs. If something strange happens to that board member we know where to start. UofAFan or whoever! A for Asshole! Total A-hole!

Ma'am, with all due respect I would have an intelligent deabate with you, but you can not even make a complete sentence. In a debate one is to state facts, which I did.
People on the board have done much more for this town than 90% of the citizens, but they don't brag about it. If that is the 'good ole boy system' you speak of, then hats off to them.
Which person am I following the foot steps? I support the board as a whole group, their decisions made as a group. I do not follow one person, as you insinuate, and as you obviously do.
Self centered? I did not mention anything about what I have done to help the schools, the community, the state or my nation. I believe you need to look up the definition of self centered.
Now, I was letting the thread die out, but thank you for bringing it back up.
Your scripted explanations for everything mean nothing. To put a 90% number on a statement like that shows just how loose your screws are. Seek professional help and soon, sir. You're still homicidal.

Just an observation and idea for you, what do you think new principal needs to do to make high school discipline better? It's been down almost 20 years. You have anything? Just an observation.

How about just simply ENFORCE the current rules and follow through with the punishment dealt to the offender(?). Not cowering and giving in the the parents who's kids 'do no wrong'. Treat every student the same irregardless of social status. If they screw up, then punish them according to what the manuel states. BE CONSISTANT and have all the teachers on board. Don't be vigilent at the beginning of the school year and slack off as the year progresses. Very simple to do if the new principal's backbone isn't made of jelly.

The teachers have to want change. They have to be willing to educate and want to touch the lives of ALL kids- they are employed to teach.

If they set high standards, encourage their students, help them be successful then things will be better.

The same goes for discipline. period. High expectations, reward student success and above all be on the job every day with quality lessons that help students succeed. Things will change and be positive.

I can't believe it but I have to actually agree with you on this one. The parts about consistency and treating every student the same are really good. Pretty sure many are waiting to see how that pans out.

What ever made you think you wouldn't agree? I was merely making an observation on anothers behavior on here. Name calling and mudslinging just shows someone inability to debate. UofAfan is no better. Stay on topic and people will read and take them seriously.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Leo

Today's Full Moon will affect your love life significantly during the next few months. You might have to say goodbye to someone you care about, or you may realize some difficult truths about your relationship. You may also have to make a tricky decision about a child or a creative project. Although this won't be a very easy time, don't make it worse by over-reacting and turning every hitch into a major drama.
