I work the graveyard shift, which has me traveling through Foristell on I-70 after 10:00 p.m. and returning before 8:00 a.m. There is almost never a time that I don't see the Foristell Police Dept. generating cash by writing a ticket for some hapless motorist on I-70 (usually east bound) or less frequently the parallel Service Roads. When the Feds conjured up their grandstand program that was supposed to put thousands of additional policemen on the streets of America, the City of Foristell was quick to jump on the "something for nothing" band wagon. They bought a bunch of new police cars and hired even more cops. Oooops! The City didn't read the fine print in the Offer. If they didn't continue to fund the program on their own after the Feds withdrew their support (on schedule), Foristell would have to return all of the hand out money they'd already applied for and accepted. So now the City of Foristell, which has a population of less than 350, has a bunch of cops and cop cars on I-70 and the parallel Service Roads (upon which they have installed lower speed limits to surprise motorists coming from Wright City to the west or Wentzville to the east) day and night, bleeding people like you and me to support their Shanty Town lifestyle. Foristell is a speed trap by design and intent.

Highway 70 is a very dangerous interstate. One of the most deadly in the state. Yes, its a pain in the ass to do the speed limit but conversely, here's an easy solution to the fear and inconvenience of getting pulled over....DON'T SPEED!!! I have to drive through there too and I know in advance that there will be officers upholding the law and keeping insane speeders under control, so I simply check my speed and get into the right lane. Problem solved, no ticket for me, no revenue for the city. Easy fix!

I agree if you speed or act in a stupid manner you should get a ticket. I am in insurance and I have clients that goes through there all the time. Heck, I go through there all the time. I got a ticket going 50 MPH during bumper to bumper traffic. If you contest the ticket they will give you a ticket for more passing, turning, lane changes, ect. If I had my way, they would never sit on the hwy.

Well,I didn't get a ticket but!I was on my way to work at 2:30 A.M. Sat.1/19/08.The Foristell cop followed me from the Wright City exit to the foristell exit.I know I wasn't speeding because I had my speedometer set at 55.Reason for pulling me over he said was I was driving like a drunk driver going over the white lines.Com e on I knew he was behind me because I pulled over to the left side of the Hwy to let him on.The only thing I had to drink was coffee.

Does anyone think it might be possible that they committed the violation that they were accused of? If everyone took responsibility for their actions and quit blaming others it would be a better world. Sunne1- do you like drunk drivers on the same road as you? 1 out of 7 drivers on the road between 11pm and 3am on the weekends are DWI. Its a shame that you had to be inconvenienced for two minutes while an officer determined that you were not DWI. If you were not, then that speaks volumes of your driving! Maybe a ticket IS in order.

The speed limit in the City of Foristell has been posted at 70 m.p.h. for several years now. You should research the real meaning of a speed trap before you comment about it. 95% of the motorist police officers working in Foristell check with radar and laser are complying with speed laws. So its just a few non-complying motorist that are issued citations. Something you didn't take into account is that Foristell Police officers aren't just writing citations. Interstate 70 is a major corridor for transporting large amounts of narcotics. Don't forget the rest of the criminals using the interstate. So if you can't read a large white sign with two foot tall numbers on it. You shouldn't be complaining about it. Summons Issued

When people complain about law enforcement officers issuing citations for reasons the driver could have avoided, it just makes the officer want to issue double the citations he wrote the month before. There will always be that person who is traveling 83 m.p.h. in a 70 and hate the police for it. Just think about how your life would be without the police. The strong would take from the weak. Think about it. How strong would you be when there isn't anyone to risk there life protecting yours. There is a much larger picture people don't take into account when complaining about police officers. When you haven't recieved third degree burns, pulling a child out of a burning vehicle because a speeding motorist lost control of their vehicle. Or you haven't seen what running into the back of a semi will do to the human body at 79 m.p.h. You shouldn't complain when an officer is sitting on the Interstate writing a summons. The life he's saving might be yours. Summons Issued

I thought you might be lonely, as you're talking to yourself, Reality_check..er..Ha Ha...er..slick. I agree with the first poster about Foristell being a speed trap. Since you suggested research on speed traps, I googled it and came up with this.

The term speed trap can refer to a point where a speed limit is strictly enforced by police. It may also refer to locations where a speed camera is posted. Alternately, the term may also refer to a speed limit that is enforced by timing how long a vehicle takes to transverse a measured distance. Cities or road sections become known as speed traps where police have a reputation for writing an unusually high number of traffic tickets, especially speeding tickets. In many of these uses, the term speed trap connotes speed limit enforcement for purposes of ticket revenue or traffic deterrence instead of safety.

And just FYI, I'm 47 years old and have never received a ticket. However, my husband (poor forgetful soul that he is) received three in Foristell. Expired tags, no insurance card, and some other technicality that I can't seem to remember. He had gotten the inspection and gone to the license bureau, but they were closed, some holiday. Then he completely forgot to go back. He had a current insurance card but the one he had put in his car was for MY car. Instead of letting him correct this, which he did the next day, Foristell went ahead and collected our $300. Were the violations my husband's fault? You betcha! But there's not an ounce of compassion when ticket revenue is your main goal. My son lives in Peoria and out of the handful of times he has visited me, he's gotten tickets going through Foristell. He threatened not to visit anymore! LOL!

Foristell is Missouri's worst speed trap according to some.

And as far as the strong taking from the weak, how about this one?

Nice.

I live in Wright City but manage to avoid your crummy town most of the time by taking Hwy N to Wentzville.

I don't know what kind of work your in, but if you could see a fraction of the things I've seen and some of the intresting people I've met you would be able to answer that question about compassion. Ticket revenue doesn't mean anything to most officers. I enjoy the fact that motorist traveling through cities that activly enforce traffic laws slow down because they know its a summons if they don't. If you think that Foristell only sits on the Interstate and writes tickets you should request a copy of all the arrest officers have made in the last year. If there wasn't anyone to enforce traffic laws people would do whatever they wanted to.

Justice Seeker, I agree with every point. One other favorite hide out for these guys is hwy T just south of town. They like to hide and catch unsuspecting speeders as the come in and out of town.
Other than hwy T and I70 you wont find them.

I'm 28 years old. I've lived in Foristell my entire life. I will say one thing about the Foristell Police Department. They do their jobs. My tags and taxes are always paid, and I go the speed limit in town. It might be because I don't want a ticket but that means the Police are doing their job. Stop bitching so much. Obey the law idiots

I concur!!!!!!!!!! It isn't just Foristell city, its St. Charles County and State Patrol as well as Warren County lined up too. Just do the speed limit and you have nothing to worry about!

Have you ever heard of poaching. A lot of things can be suspicious to a police officer. But you wouldn't know that because you aren't one. Everything is suspicious. Everything will be investigated by a good officer. Thats how you catch criminals.

Hmmm...I think it's called term. Term to mean a word or expression that has a precise meaning?..... Tearm - WTF, not a word? Thanks!
You just have to love when the self-appointed spell checkers and grammar police come out to play. They just make it too easy!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
