This encounter is not the bears fault. I've been up there hiking with my dog and the humans actually think you can pet this wild animals. They throw food to them too. Last month there was a young bear that was near Vivian Falls and he was following people. The ranger said they thought that his mother had died.
It will be the bear that pays for the stupidity of the people that picnic and leave their trash laying around. At some point the Forest Service will have no choice but to relocate the bear or shoot him.

I agree it is not the bears fault, but if Forestfalls wants to use the picnic area as a means of supporting the local economy they need to consider taking a more active roll in runnig and or supporting the camp groungs. The U.S.F.S can only do so much there man power and funds are limited.

Thanks for posting Bear News:
We just recently saw what we thought were bear prints along creek area on Potato Canyon Drive, in Oak Glen wasn't sure any were around. We'll be extra careful hiking.
