This country is only runs looking at the bottom line, if it does not make a profit, cut the service. Don't we have satellite phone service that these boxes could be tied in to, yes it would be more expensive to operate, but how much do these fires cost, not to mention the loss in water sheds as we go into a drought. The potential loss of life getting aid.

The dropping of the analog signal we something we knew about long before it happened. This is just a lack of planning.
