not listed in your short list of closed roads in susquehanna co is route 29 in franklin forks. we were traveling from nys to montrose when we encountered AT THE SITE a sign informing travelers of a closed road. since i was born in montrose, it was no problem to detour up salt springs road to the silver lake road. however, persons not familiar with the area surely will be frustrated by having traveled from the nys border to franklin forks, only to find the road closed. posting a "bridge out" sign at the border would be fair and reasonable, reasonably expected from municipal authorities. that lack of information is appalling. in an aside, the condition of the road surface in brookdale is appalling as well. how much asphalt are you going to dump on that site before you get to the root of the problem? it must be 12 feet deep. over the 50 years i've traveled route 29 nothing has improved at that site. the road is narrow, twisty, and dangerous to the safety of life and auto. overgrowth has encroached, reducing visibility as well. it surely is not conducive to tourism. thanks for letting me vent. i compare the condition of roads in ny with my native pa. and cringe. it's embarrassing.
