The numbers you quote from the article were reported to be online applications .... for that specific store number.

Well, I guess that the store managers job has been filled so I'll apply for the greeter job. How's this, "Welcome to Wal-Mart, what the hell do you want now"?
My dad mentioned going to work as a greeter at WalMart years ago when he retired. I told him he wasn't nice enough. You must be like him! Lol. ;)

America has truly sunk to a new low when its citizens applaud the opportunity to work for low wages peddling Chinese crap. China just may own the US one day.
If WalMart is the idolized employer for WNC, UNCA students had better move away from here as soon as they graduate to find a decent standard of living.
China practically owns us.

All applications are done online. Even if you go to the hiring center you fill out the applications online on their computers as well through the Walmart Online Hiring Website. The managers were saying that as of 2 weeks ago they had received around 850 applications which were all online to that specific store. The media was reporting 7000 which according to the managers was incorrect.

I think they need to hire some more in the meat department. Lot of the meat and lunch meat needs to be reduced or pulled.

If you want butcher shop quality and customer service, go to a butcher shop.

I was @ the Wal-Mart in Weavertucky today, and they had lunch meat dated the 27th of July..........that's GROSS, and they don't have a section for reduced products.
It was sickening, as this lunch meat had probably been on the shelf since they opened.

Its good to see jobs, but I know how this will work. 350 people and pay them dogchit, no benefits, treat them like they are less than human. Walmart does not care about there employees, you are just anther number in the paycheck books
This is the kind of news that looks great in the newspaper, but what sort of career will Walmart offer? "Hey, I'm sure glad I got that degree so I can push shopping carts across the parking lot".
Asheville should try to attract some new industry so people will have some professions to work in, not just some $8.00 an hour job.
