New jobs are great, but these aren't the types of jobs that will sustain a family and provide for people. These jobs are thankless telemarketing and credit reclamation jobs that tend to be high stress and short lifycyle (i.e. Sitel, ClientLogic).
Sitting in an old brick textile mill while having the horn up to your ear making $7-$9/hour is pretty much slavery.
I trust that this place will fail.
I hope you're wrong. The company's been there in some capacity for quite a few years. We'll see... They need something down there.

I think so. People want jobs alright, but only if they're under their conditions. Mid 5 figures, 8-5 M-F, 15 holidays, etc. Jobs there will help the economy, bringing tax dollars along with spending by the employees to other local businesses.

A lot of call centers are moving back into the US as they're not saving as much as they thought they could by moving overseas.

Yeah you are right, just let people keep getting those goverment check and foodstamps, that we all pay for. I am sure they make more money that way anyway. God are you crazy, any job is better than no job and not every company is going to start you off at $15.00 per hour.

Call centers arent as bad as you are trying to make them seem. I love working in the call center I work at. Everyone is friendly we have great benefits and we get several holidays a year PTO for when we need a day off mthly bonus that can equal to double your regular check and mush more, before the call center i was a cashier making 750 an hour if you think that call centers are so bad why dont you go work for walmart or ingles where you have to fight for years to get a raise or full time status. Some of the women i work with looked for jobs for 6 mths to a year before finding a call center. So before you down something that you dont even know about how about you stepping into a single mothers shoes and see how important a $8.50 an hour job can be.

Why be such a negitive person? Like the other person says call centers can be great. When I lived in ohio they had them everywhere. I worked for MCI before it shut down and I made better money there than my husband did operating a crane for 15 dollars an hour. We had great benifits and the bonuses were awesome. there were days I could walk out of there with my 8 dollars an hour and 2 or 3 hundred dollars in cash bonuses. plus they did drawings for tv's vcr's game systems and even stuff like sea doo's. call centers can be stressful if its not your cup of tea... but for someone like myself who loves to talk on the phone and who has a great people personality i cant wait for this place to open up.. there are not many of these types of jobs around here.. also like the other person says.. its a hell of a lot better than NO JOBS AT ALL!

Probably because their customers are getting P.O.'d from not being able to understand their operators.

Minimum wage is better than no wage any way you slice it. I have never eaten at the public trough and, God willing, I wont ever have to. I give honest work for honest pay...even if its less than I want. I make do and I am honest. This is all I need in THIS world. I can look me in the eye and know I try to do the next right thing...no matter what others say or do.

If y'all want jobs..then you best make sure jobs that produce a product..stay here.
#1)Go to meetings..Town and County..find out whats going on..and why..and voice your opinion
#2)Call your state government and call them often. Let them know your watching..and remind them all..they work for you..not the other way around.
#3)Make damn sure your registered to vote...and that you support the Constitution..let them know you support the Constitution and will only vote for those that do.
#4)KICK THEM OUT..most of the ones in office are nothing more than neo-cons. If you haven't noticed..their destroying you..me..our kids

The only 2 in government I really trust right now are Dr.Ron Paul. a congressman from Tx and his son..Dr.Rand Paul, who just got elected to the Senate in Ky.
