Mountain lion allegedly attacks Orange County hiker

Why would a 47 year old man with fully developed frontal lobe go and try to even get near a mountain lion with cubs!? The smart thing is to note the area and warn people not to go near it.
As a result the park is closed down and hikers and bikers are once again have to deal with closed park status. I'm tempted to go post a sign at entrance that says stay away from wild life unless you are an ediot and want to die.
