And as a (non gang member) motorcyclist, I can personally attest to more than a few times that my butt was saved by a little crack on the throttle of my "somewhat louder than stock" but not "crazy loud" mufflers...

And how does your Wife and Kids feel when they see a 1/2 dozen or More Bikers in Black Leathers and looking like Gang Members of the Hell's Angles
comming into their neighborhood or at the Entrance of your Street ( Like at Skinny's)
and have to drive thru them to get to your Home..

And be carefull not to drive over the empty Beer Cans and Bottles along the way on your street..

and Looking at Biker Guys and Girls that are 'Weight Watcher' Rejects with more Tatoo's than than Open Skin...

And Come out when we have to 'Scrape' a few every yr off the Pavement and out of our Ditches ... for Reckless Driving and Being Drunk...

Come on over to our neighborhood ( by the old Skinny's and Fisher's ) some Friday & Sat Late nites...

With some 75% of the Locals being from the N. Shore of Chicago? They don't want Bikers in their Communities where they live Yr Round and surely not in their Summer Homes either..

And they are the primary Bread and Butter for the economy of Our Little Corner of the World uphere in LG and Delevan, Wi.

We don't have the Industry and Shopping Malls that You folks have in Schaumburg to pay our bills....

And even The Chamber Of Commerace reported that the average Biker only spends less than $18 when comes to a resort town like LG/Delevan..where a Family of 4 spends over $150...

Now who are you going to Cater too, to make your livelyhood?

It's simple Economic's.. We Just can't afford to "encourage" bikers into our community..

It drives out the Real Money we desperately need.

Now if there were more " Jay Leno" type Bikers? be a Different story.....LOL

Motorcycles are a good thing (period.) Choppers, dirt bikes or cruisers, all are great toys and or tools (to each his own.)

Anything that is unneccessarily loud is not a good thing, and the excuse that loud bikes save lives or protect people is b.u_l-l.s'h2i#t.

Any police officer, deputy or FBI agent found to be in possession of a straight-piped or mufflerless motorcycle (or boat or car or truck) should be suspended without pay for two months - no exceptions.

Loud vehicles are an excellent reason to create a law-enforcement agency that polices police (68 decibles or more). Isn't it absurd that police departments are allowed to investigate themselves ?

A 2nd violation should result in the immediate confiscation of the vehicle (motorcycle.) Any loud vehicle confiscated should be hauled to a scrapyard and placed into a compactor and destroyed permanently (regardless of it's marketvalue).

Police use loud vehicles to harass their personal enemies (most of which are not criminals.)

I can understand a town under constant siege from the invasion of throngs of loud motorcycles for 5 months out of the year. I have lost a percentage of my hearing over the years from military and wood shop noise. That was because I hadn't the sense to protect myself. When motorcycles parade down the street, people who live in the neighborhoods endure the constant noise much like those who live under an airport landing approach or those who live close to the railroad.
I think many of the folks who live in town are especially angry at the inconsiderate lot of folks who disrespect the neighborhood. For motorcycles it is the maroon who throttles the bike for attention or accelerates loudly. If the motorcyclists respect the area, they do little to attract attention to themselves. By and large I think this describes the majority of motorcyclists that I know.
Much of the litter and bottles strewn about can be from any of the patrons at an establishment who drive, walk, drop off, or ride. So assigning that to motorcyclists alone is stereotypical. But it also shows the image that folks have of those of us who do ride. Sometimes that image is impossible to change.
I am not sure how valid your economic stats are comparing motorcyclists and the family of four. Many motorcyclists ARE parents and grandparents. In our chapter we ride with an EMT, paramedic, nurse, teacher, mechanic, etc. None of these people fit the stereotypical description given in this thread. In fact none of our group drinks when they ride.
Be careful to single out those who do violate your laws and not cast a disparaging eye on the lot of us. Like any group or organization: 10 percent will always be a-holes.

What goes around comes around. Many mufflerless bikes are owned and operated by pigs. Pigs will confiscate people's property. A person's gun or guns are a pigs trophy (for example).

Where I live, the pigs order bikers (driving loud hogs) to drive past my house to "run me out of town".

Nothing wrong about being a biker. Motorcycles are a good thing, loud ones should be destroyed.

If your muffler is too load no matter what you have between your legs you should get a ticket. Just because I have the right to own a motor cycle does not mean I have the right to take the muffler off and drive through town disturbing the peace. Just like I have the right to own a gun, but I do not have the right to shoot it off in town whenever I want. Use some common frickin sense and respect thy fellow neighbor.

I think that all of the people against the loud pipes and this and that are just searching for something to complain about. They must lead pretty boaring lives. You didnt lose your hearing because a bike went down your street you lost it because of old age, or maybe your lawnmo wer or your wife yelling at you. I am tired of the neighbor hoods that I ride through and all I hear are screaming children or dogs barking but guess what I get over it. I would not give LG any of my money and 18 dollars is too much in my book!!!

1. We want to protray a FAMILY Imgage..
2. Yes, too many Bars and Even Strip Joynts on the outskirts of town is still an eyesore..( Or Excuse, me, Gentlemens Clubs in Darian, etc )
3. But, I have to tell you, Seeing a Bunch of Bikers, dressed in their "Colors" and Tatoo's is representative of being a Bad Gang..Image.. and of course, tatoos's are another Bad Image.. Issue..
4. You can't drive around town with No Exhaust Muffflers on your Car or Truck, thus You should not be able to do the same for your Bike...It's just common sense to respect the laws and the People and town your Visiting..
5. If you come from Most parts of Illinois? You can't ride your Noisy Bike there, so you come here to do it..and you accelerate it to make it noiser..that again, you can't do at your hometown.. Try doing that on the N. Shore of Illinois like HPark, Lake Forest, Glenvew..

6. We used to own Bikes & Like our Boats, We had SILENT CHOICE.. If you Bikers were to spend the $ to have that and Use it? Look like a Decent Person and Not some Gang Banger, you wouldn't be Shunned & Not wanted in our Community.

7. You can be Mayor Chesin on a Nosiy Bike, wearing Leathers and A Leather Hat and Nazi Helmet with Tatoo's and you will still be Not Wanted .. Condos has a Scooter and projects a Harmless Image.. the Antique Cars ( 50-60's) people have around here are Nice and Quiet..

8. And hate to tell you Bikers? You do Not add to our Economy on a Per person Basis..as Families Do.. Off hand , I'd say a $5-$1 basis..

Everyone is comparing the bikers to the Northshore Chicago crowd. Saying the Chicago crowd spends $150.00 vs. Biker crowd spending much less.
Let's keep in mind people that the biker stays for 1/2 hr. to 1 hr. The North Shore crowd stays the entire weekend.
I would invite them to my town to spend $15-$20 anyday.

1. Do bikers bring their kids along when cruising into our town? Ans? Nope
Mapsrust? Well, That is $150 Per DAY per Person, do the math for a 2-3 day wknd.
We'd Be happy to Send the Bikers to your town, where is that by the way? Chgo?$15-$20 day just pays for parking or a Few Beers at best.. But, They can give them nice $125 tickets or ave of $165 if they run upto the N. Burbs of Evanstaon and the North Shore if they'd like for Loud Exhaust, Reckless driving to a Multitude of other things they like to nail them for..since, they ( Police) are under alot more pressure from their Towns to keep them OUT of their towns..( I know, lived in N. Shore for 30 yrs.. LOL
All this is just either "Conform to the Society you want to live in to Get along and be treated the same and get ahead or Not"..
NonConformist are considered outcast and trouble makers and never acheive what they could if they conformed to their peers..Blame Marlin Brando & Biker movies Hence,for creating such a Stignma. LOL.
But, Once AFTER you have become Financially Independent, you're welcome to go TRY do as you please..
BTW..Although Being a EMT/Parmedic is quite admirable, isn't an excuse or Justifies it.. Their life span staying on such a job Full Time,( Not P.T. or Volunteers) is very limted anyway.. ave is less than 7 yrs..last I saw on a PBS show..Most leave due to Depression of tired of Scrapping up people off the pavement..ie: Bikers are #1 on the list.
But, they still Own Bikes themselves? Sure, they, being young , like others, don't think it will happen to them.. They thinking they're better , safer and have more common sensse than the others.. not realizing it isn't due to their Skill, but that of others that hit them... Denial is a Wonderfull thing..isn't it? It allows us to cope ..
