school district's need to stop saying they or trying to keep the cuts far away from the classrooms.teachers are not the only employees who work for the district.if they are going to cut start with them.if teachers care so much about education then start giving back to education,WITH A PAY CUT.

As a Fontana teacher I have to ask myself why the district is spending money to build a new high school while enrollment is declining? Why is the adult school continuing to run despite being rendered ineffective by cuts and bad administration? Why does FUSD continue to maintain the district police department when the area is serviced by the sheriff dept. and city police. Does it have anything to do with the superintendents husband working for the district police department? Cutting the district police would save over ten million alone!!Binks, get rid of the district police department and worry about educating, not incarcerating students!

Do away with the unions. The unions greed and unyielding demands caused the demise of the auto industry and are destroying the educational system as well.

The children of illegal immigrants attending California schools are helping bankrupt the state.

Many student organizations keep students returning to school. Avoid cutting programs like ROTC and band @ all costs. S.Fontana

You could delete the name Fontana and replace it with the name of any other school district in California and the story would still be true. All school districts in California are hurting. Some more than others. It needs to stop soon.

A few years ago they passed a bond to build new schools. The money can only be used for that purpose. So no matter what the budget situation, the schools have to be built. Doesn't make sense, I know. But that's the way it is. As far as the district police, the district is the second largest in San Benrardino County, the first being San Bernardino City Unified which also has a school police department. The school police are good deterents to crime against schools because their focus is on school safety, not the safety of the public at large like the other law enforcement agencies. I think it is a good idea for the San Bernardino City Unified School District to have its own police department and I think that the Fontana USD also needs their own police department.

The new Jurupa Hills High School will eliviate the overcrowding at FoHi which has roughly 4,000 students. Enrollment isn't declining across the board. Our high schools have the highest enrollment in the Inland Empire. The new school was paid with "Bond" money which was passed by the voters and can only be used for construction not payroll.

The district offers free lunch to ANY CHILD that qualifies and it's reimbursed by the State.

The Superintendent has given back furlough days.

Money's money. It doesn't make a difference where it came from when it's squandered and mis-managed.

These dopes who can't even balance their checkbook are "educating" our kids. No wonder test scores are in the toilet.

Sounds like you're upset you don't have a union. The unions are not the demise ARNOLD is responsible.

What a stupid thing to say. Teachers are not highly paid in fact they can work for a private company making a lot more money than what a teacher's salary pays. They do it because they love their job. Maybe you should take a pay cut or maybe you already lost your job and feel everyone else should be in the same boat as you.

There's not a private school in the State that pays anything close to what public school teachers are making.

And yet, those low-paid, non-union private school teachers produce educated students who prove it with high test scores.
